A very good friend of mine went to a local archer shop to get a replacement Dacron String for his ancient wheel bow. That 35" string cost him $16.95 Plus $12.95 for tying in the peep and installing 2 brass nocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o  To me that is HIGHWAY Robbery!

The worst part was that the seving knots at the peep were not tight enough, so they slipped on him and the Brass nocks were put on the string 3/8" NOCK HIGH!!!!!!!! :o   If he would have brought me the bow and the new string I would have installed it, Served the peep good and tight, served in his nocking points and checked the tune on his bow for Free!!!!!!!!!!!!

He came here to shoot with me and he was having a Terrible time shooting! I know that he is a great shot, so I started checking for problems, That's when I noticed the Shoddy work and he told me what he was charged!!!

I ended up redoing everything that so called shop had done. I wasn't happy in the least on how they treated my friend or how they did their work!

The saddest part is, I used to trust this shop and I sent Lots of people to it!:( THEY WILL NEVER GET ANY MORE BUSINESS SENT THEIR WAY BY ME, MY SHOOTING PARTNERS NOR MY FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!

That's really brutal Grandpaw...I am lucky that I haven't been scammed by any pro shops around my area. All of the ones I have ever dealt with have been excellent. Sorry to hear about your buddy's experience.

Scott,
It's a sad state of affairs when Greed and Laziness take precendence over loyal friends and patrons for sure! :(

I will be opening a Very, Very Small Shop to sell archery gear at reasonable prices. Mostly it will be a custom order sho, you need it, I order it and I make a tiny profit while the customer saves a lot. I will even install the purchased merchandise for Free!

Bow work will be done at fair prices and on a Reservation Basis. (I plan to retire to enjoy myself, not to work Full time and miss out on hunting and fishing! ;) :D)

There will be Free Range time and Lessons (if needed) for any new bow purchase. After the customer signs an accident release form.

No Children or pets will be allowed into the range unless they are taking lessons or accompanied by an adult!

I am going to be getting my Coaching Degrees so that people can be assured that I'm qualified as a coach and so I can make a little spending money! :)

Here's a photo of my world famous range before it was done, it shows the building my shop will be in: http://www.hunt101.com/img/053923.jpg

and another photo:

this was as I got close to the finish product.

here's one last photo:

as you can see, the building is only 12'X16'; so it will indeed be a small shop specializing it saving it's customers money and treating them Right!

That reminds me of when I was just getting into bow/bow hunting.I went to the local Sport's store and asked if someone could help me with getting started and set-up .I told them that all I had was a brand new barely fired Mosberg 9200 semi-auto 12g.They took me in.They gave me in trade,a Buck Tomcat bow with cheap low end sights and arrow rest! No arrows.no extras, just the bare min.I was too nieve back then, and did'nt know a thing about archery, now when I go back to that shop it's only for hunting equipment, gun's & ammo and other items that keep me away from that salesmens counter. Now I'm on my 4rth bow, a Mathews Legacy,I love it!!
I shot 2 PSE's before that (Quantum,Triton).I don't regret getting into bowhunting,I do regret not doing any sort of research into the subject.I suppose that goes with anything though.
Happy Shoot'n

I found a string for my friends bow on ebay last night for $4.25 plus $1.00 for shipping and handling! :( :x I also found a steel cable for his bow for $10.00 from the same seller, so there will only be the one shipping and handling charge!
That shop wanted $40 for the cable plus installation charges! :x

Looks like I'll be doing the work for him and it will be FREE of charge! :)

good stuff, i can only see one pic though,

im glad the shop i deal with is very reasonable and cheap, i actually dont know how he pays the power bill with the prices he gives, but its just a hobby for him he has a full time job besides, a few months ago i took and old bow i had apart because it was snaping when drawn, i found the shims under the limbs broken, i went up and he had one, gave it to me free of charge ( the bow is and old polaris and im sure the shims are different in desighn now) then when it came time to put it back together, i had forgotten how the cables wraped around so up i went with the bow in pieces, took us a half hour or so (with generous chit chat of course) he put it all back together and never charged me a dime, even though i dont shoot the bow its nice to have incase someone wants to give it a try,

now thats service!!
