Shooting Into The Wind
Well I must say I have never practiced shooting into the wind:boohoo:,Saturday morning had me coming out after the winds picked up to about 50 kmn at 11am. On my way out I saw a few does and decided to see if they'd come to me. I sat myself down in front of the pole on the fence line and waited till they were broadside at 35 yards.
I drew and all hell broke lose, LMAO, I actually didn't think I would be able to draw right out in the open on flat ground,I was right. Oh well as I come to the top of the rolling hill I noticed movement in the dried up water hole,I hunkered down and got my range finder out to see what it was as it's head was down. It ended up being a mature doe eating the greenery of off the bottom of the slew. I snuck up for 60 yards and hopped a fence and got to 31 yards when I ranged her again. Stood ,drew and released into the wind. With in 10 yards I saw my 2inch fletchings start to warbble and weave and made a wooshing noise I have never heard before. The doe looked up and ducked all at once. The arrow sailed over her back and she walked out not knowing what it was that made the strange noise.
It was a give me shot I thought:stop_nono. Little did I know what the wind would do in this situation, I was totaly in disbelief, where did I go wrong:boohoo:. I honestly must say I have never come across this situation in any hunting situation before . I always use the wind in my favour but not when it's howling. I actually saw my arrow curve up to the left at least 2 inches before it hit the ground. Just wondering if this is normal for a windy situation? Any feed back would be appreciated.
Thanks For any feedback Guys
