Hubbard,it's a fall bear.I got him down in 400,Mill Creek.

When I first saw him he was feeding above timberline and I thought it was a griz.After pulling out the spotting scope I knew he was a black and I made a stalk on him.By the way it's a rifle kill,7mm mag.Closest I could get was 300 yards and practically straight up.I broke his shoulder with the first shot and he sommersaulted about a 100 yards and was able to stop himself.I shot him again and sent him down an avalanche chute into the timber below.That should have killed him if the bullet didn't.I found him a half hour later still very much alive and pissed right off but he had a broken back and shoulder but still tried to come after me,I killed him at less than 10 yards.I will never forget that day.The pose he is in is what I saw when I approached him laying in the alders.
