I sent my request for Wild TV in to Rogers Cable here in Toronto yesterday. I got a pretty generic response saying that they don't currently offer it but they are adding channels to their digital TV package soon and they will consider it. I hope they're not as full of **** as I think they are. If Expressview or Star Choice offers Wild TV I'll switch to satellite so fast!!!!

It's sad that the only hunting show left on cable TV is the one Hal Sutton hosts on The Golf Channel!!!

I phoned Shaw on Sunday and talked with a rep. He took my request and it was noted. He also mentioned that they have been getting alot of request about the Outdoor Channel. I informed him that Wild TV is a Canadian Network. At one time when I asked about the Outdoor Channel they said they had it reffering to OLN. At least they knew about the Outdoor Channel and now know about Wild TV.

I got the same response from shaw that they have noted my request but have no plans to add it at this time.
Thank you for contacting Shaw Eservice.

While we are unaware of any immediate plans to add this channel, we do record all customer requests. We therefore have recorded your interest in Wild TV for future consideration.

We hope this information has been useful to you.

I emailed Star Choice and told them that I wouldn't hesitate to switch to whichever provider was the first to offer Wild. Got the same generic response but an email I got from Wild this morning seem to indicate that they would be on Star Choice. The launch is scheduled for late September. Really looking forward to 24 hours of hunting and fishing. Should make the winter go by easier.

I got a pretty generic response a while back from Expressvu. What do they care anyway. I pay them $55 for my satellite, $35 for my phone and $50 for my internet connection. Oh well 30 more days till deer season.

New Wild Press Release!!

CANADA’S FIRST 24 - HOUR HUNTING AND FISHING CHANNEL TO LAUNCH IN SEPTEMBER

23 August, 2004

CANADA’S FIRST 24 - HOUR HUNTING AND FISHING CHANNEL TO LAUNCH IN SEPTEMBER IN WESTERN CANADA, FEATURING AWARD-WINNING CANADIAN PROGRAMMING.

Calgary, Alberta, Aug 20th, 2004 – A truly new beginning has arrived as The Kohler Family announces its fully CRTC licensed Wild TV channel launching September 2004 in Canada: delivering 100% outdoor television to this great land. This makes WILD TV the first broadcaster to provide a fully packaged 24/7 channel consisting entirely of high quality outdoor programming from Canada and around the world.

WILD TV will be available from your local cable and satellite companies as well as through local digital cable systems across Canada.
"The launch of WILD TV is a significant milestone in a commitment to bring the best programming to our community of sportsmen and sportswomen," said Dieter Kohler, Wild TV President and CEO. "Wild TV will be a key component of the cable and satellites growing portfolio and that is where you can find Wild TV." explained Mr Kohler " Canadians have waited long enough for this channel, now its here”

“Wild TV will showcase the top programs from all outdoor program genres. I will personally make it my goal to find the most exciting programs for Canadian viewers. Shows that will entertain, educate and create memories for years to come. Wild TV will do its part in maintaining our outdoor heritage and Canadian culture. So pick up a camera and start shooting that trip of a lifetime.” explained Ryan Kohler, Executive Vice President.

“Reaching 6 million hunting and fishing enthusiasts in Canada, WILD TV has the ability to deliver a targeted demographic that has, in the past, been unavailable to the outdoors marketplace. Coupled with the best programming available, this will surely put WILD TV at the top of outdoorsmen and women’s favourite television channel list.”, said Scott Stirling, Sr. VP of Marketing.

“Our focus is to broadcast the best in outdoor programming to a rich and diverse nation of outdoor enthusiasts. I have traveled Canada producing programs; Canadians as well as other people from around the world cannot get enough of our outdoors. Wild TV has all your outdoor programming, including hunting.” said Frank Papineau Vice President Affiliate Sales and Marketing

Programming highlights on the Wild TV CHANNEL include:

The Weekend Fisherman™ with Frank Papineau brings fishing and the outdoors to the everyday enthusiast. This award winning series offers an array of original programs from across Canada. The programs feature antique lure collecting, cooking and pro tips. Plus Canadian guests like Walter Gretzky, and Red Fisher and some of the best scenery in Canada.

Fishing with Shelly and Courtney starring Shelley Todd and Courtney Hatfield invites viewers to join them for fishing adventures in the best natural environment in the world. Traveling to the likes of the wild and remote Queen Charlotte Islands, world famous Rivers Inlet, and beautiful Discovery Pass or along one of B.C.'s great rivers, Shelley and Courtney are always fishing somewhere different and exciting. Special features include Fish Facts, presented by the Recreational Fisheries Division of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and the Sport Fishing Institute of British Columbia focusing on fishing techniques, conservation practices (how to release a salmon, hooking mortality, tagging programs for conservation research), new sport fish regulations, the effects of environmental change.

The Outdoor Quest has been a real favourite with both hunters and anglers. Each episode features a hunting and fishing segment. Kim and T.J. Schwanky and Sandi and Richard Mellon host the series. While Rich and T.J. do most of the fishing, it is the ladies that get to show their talents in the hunting arena. Outdoor Quest prides itself on free-range hunts for truly wild animals. Species range from whitetails, mule deer, black bear, to moose, caribou, sheep and goats. The emphasis is on the adventure of the hunt. Richard and T.J. target a wide variety of fish in their travels but it is walleye that they really key in on. Each fishing segment is packed with how-to information on catching fish in your backyard. The majority of the fishing is at lakes that are easily accessible by automobile and close to major Canadian centres.

In the coming months Wild TV will showcase some of the most renowned outdoor series, including, Realtree Just Hunting, Quebec Adventures as well as Boat Test Reports. And be sure not to miss our pro tip every week on Wild TV.

Newspaper Article On Wild TV:

TV is going to go Wild - Newspaper Article

02 September, 2004

Scott Stirling has parlayed his love of the outdoors into a number of creative, high-tech avenues, including ehunt.ca. and Bowzone.ca web sites that serve as online auction sites, catalogues and forums for outdoors gear and enthusiasts.

DOUG MCINTYRE

Times Reporter

Scott Stirling has parlayed his love of the outdoors into a number of creative, high-tech avenues, including ehunt.ca. and Bowzone.ca web sites that serve as online auction sites, catalogues and forums for outdoors gear and enthusiasts.

And now, with the launch of Wild TV on Sept. 15, Stirling is casting his line for fishing and hunting pursuits to the airwaves.

"Reaching six million hunting and fishing enthusiasts in Canada, Wild TV has the ability to deliver a targeted demographic that has, in the past, been unavailable to the outdoors marketplace," said Stirling, the senior vice president of marketing for the Calgary based company.

The first 24 hour broadcaster to provide outdoors related programming from Canada and beyond, Wild TV is the definitive solution, added Stirling, to a void in the cable market.

"Personally I just think no one had the gumption to do it before. We're the first exclusively hunting and fishing channel to be fully licensed by the CRTC.

The 33 year old Cochrane resident became involved with the company five months ago when he was approached by Dieter and Ryan Kohler, Wild TV president and CEO and executive vice president, respectively, to develop its web site.

"The launch of Wild TV is a significant milestone in a commitment to bring the best programming to our community of sportsmen and sportswomen” said Dieter Kohler.

"Canadians have waited long enough for this channel, now it's here."

Although headquartered in Calgary,

Wild TV also has an office in Ottawa to provide nationwide service of a variety of programs appealing to hunting and angling buffs.

Among these are Fishing With Shelly and Courtney, hosted by Shelly Todd and Courtney Hatfield as they travel to a number of remote angling jewels, with instruction on fishing techniques and conservation practices integrated into the show.

Another local connection exists in The Outdoor Quest, hosted by Sandi and Richard Mellon and Cochrane residents Kim and T.J. Schwanky, a unique show where the feminine side of the contingent

struts their hunting skills while targeting everything from ungulates to black bears. Their husbands, meanwhile, wet the hooks to land a variety of fish species, with walleye the main target.

"Our programming is pretty much done and we have 48 different shows confirmed," said Stirling. "We're just getting ready for the launch now."

Wild TV debuts Sept. 15 in Manitoba, with the company hoping to expand westward, a province at a time, for each month thereafter.

"Ifs going to be contingent on people wanting the channel and phoning their

cable or satellite provider and requesting it,” said Stirling.

Along with local cable and satellite companies, Wild TV is also available through local digital cable systems across Canada.

And given Canadians' unabashed enthusiasm for the outdoors, Wild TVs creators are confident the 24/7 channel fill a needed niche in the marketplace.

Said Frank Papineau, vice president o affiliate sales and marketing for Wild TV, " have traveled Canada producing pro grams; Canadians, as well as other people from around the world, can not get enough of our outdoors."

Network Wild about outdoors

By Jeff MORRISON, Ottawa Sun
This country's first television channel dedicated to the sports of hunting and fishing launches this week across Canada, and with local support we may just catch a glimpse of it in our region. Wild TV is the brainchild of the Kohler family of Calgary and bills itself as the first broadcaster to provide a 24/7 TV channel dedicated to outdoors programming from Canada and around the world.

It is predicted the new "sportsmen friendly" channel will reach more than six million Canadian homes, and feature such popular shows as The Outdoor Quest, Fishing with Shelly & Courtney and The Weekend Fisherman.

"Our focus is to broadcast the best in outdoor programming to a rich and diverse nation of outdoor enthusiasts," says Frank Papineau, Wild TV's VP of Marketing and a local celerity.

As Wild TV's head of marketing for the east, Papineau is more than just a little excited to "dip his line" again into outdoor television.

"I grew up on a farm, for goodness sake, so hunting and fishing was a huge part of my life," said Papineau.

As host of over 100 episodes of The Weekend Fisherman, he knows a bit about outdoor programming, and hopes to bring his passion and experience to local television. Although Wild TV is widely available on cable and satellite throughout many parts of Canada, at press time it has not been picked up locally.

With enough interest and requests made to our local cable provider, Papineau feels it will not be long before Wild TV will be available in Ottawa. Many avid sportsmen, I am sure, will be crossing their fingers on that one. For more information check out: http://www.wildtv.ca, or contact Papineau at: frank.papineau@wildtv.ca

Renegade Bass Event: The last regular season event for Renegade Bass was held on Big Rideau Lake last weekend under some windy conditions. The top weight went to Rick Dolgowicz and Mark Boisclair, each reeling in 17.45 lbs. of bass. Following closely was the tandem of Steve Barnett and Trevor Cheney (17.44 lbs.), with Rod Coville and Chris Lawson taking third place (16.48 lbs.). They also walked away with the Big Fish Prize with a 5.86- pound largemouth. The team of the year was Jack Levert and Jim Palmer, who will compete in the Renegade Bass Classic this weekend on Mississippi Lake.

Testing, testing: I had the opportunity this summer to put the new H2Optix marine sunglasses by Bolle to the test, on a charter boat trip off the coast of Massachusetts. With the Boston bluefish run in full force, I was getting anxious to hook into some big blues. Using the new glasses, I was the first angler on the boat to observe the "blue rockets" moving toward the chum, and the only person onboard with the lens capability to spot the fish feeding at a depth of 30 feet. Every H2Optix lens is polarized and claims to have the most effective and highest quality polarization available in the sunglasses industry today. They offer 100% UV protection and effectively eliminate the intense glare of the sun on water, allowing me to see everything going on in ocean depths. The H2Optix lenses are tough enough to withstand the impact of a hammer, although I'd never try it, and possess an advanced water sheeting action to reduce lens spotting. The adjustable sport strap also keeps your sunglasses securely in place while battling an angry bluefish, and keeps them afloat should they ever go overboard. For more information, call 800-22-BOLLE or visit www.bolle.com.

NWTF Banquet: The fourth annual National Wild Turkey Federation, Ontario Chapter Superfund banquet is being held this year at the W.B. George Building in Kemptville on Sept. 17. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the dinner starts at 6:30pm. For tickets, contact Evan at (613) 258-5258 or Rick (291-6937) of the Leeds-Grenville Gobblers. The NWTF is a half million member grassroots, non-profit organization that supports scientific wildlife management as well as wild turkey hunting as a traditional sport.
