Well first off I picked up my bow this summer and have been shooting regularly all summer, as a member of the Calgary Archers club. I've taken my hunters training course at AHEIA, bought most of my gear including some Elk calls. And am getting ready for the fast approaching season.

I plan on hunting 410 mainly, and mainly hunting it for Elk. I have a few friends who are hunters, but not bowhunters, so I dont really have much wisdom and guidance to go on. I have been "scouting" a few areas but once again am unexperienced at that. I have spoken with Fish and wildlife and know that I am in the right area and in legal boundaries. Also been given advice from others that it is a good area, but feel like I am chasing my tail so to speak. I have a good friend who is in the same boat that travels with me.

So if anyone has any thoughts on the area, on technique(scouting/hunting) for the area or on anything else relating to this post by all means, help me out please.

I just figured I'd make this clear too. I am a family man with good intentions and ethics. I'm a quick learner, with a good grasp of common sense and my surroundings, so hopefully you'll believe me when I say that, your advice and help wont be going to a lost cause, because i fully intend for this to be more then a hobby, but a way of life. I'm very persistant when I want something and learning how to be a top notch hunter has been a dream my entire life ...now that I am finally in a position to take this path I hope that I can learn everything I can from the best.

I guess one last note here. If anyone cares to take some newer hunters out to show us the ropes in 410 or anywhere else in the area it would be greatly appreciated. I can promise it wont be like having 2 tag alongs. WE are both capable individuals who understand responsibility, are team players and will definitely carry our own weight.

We intend to be in the east side of 410 come open season so anyone gonna be out there anyways........................................... dont be shy, come say Hi.

yeah I said it.....wow that was cheezzy
