I am considering a drop away rest for my Mathews Legacy Bow. I am looking at the Muzzy zero effect. Whats the most important thing to look for in a drop away rest? Any advice would help. Thanks :-)

Toplouff - I certainly am not a Pro but since there have been no replies I thought I'd give you my learnings from a few days ago. I was told that there are no real differences that make one of these rests extraordinarily better than the other. Brand name drives the price and so on. They all seem to have an anchor string that actuates the rest to lift or drop as you draw or release. NOTE that you will need to get some sort of shaft guide to keep the arrow centered in place when the arrow is nocked but the bow is not drawn. It's simple, it works well and doesn't bugger your fletching... darn those whisker biscuits!
just my take.

I use GKF Dropaways exclusively and love them. Less contact with the arrow than any other rest, meaning that the arrow sees a lot less influence from the rest.

I'm no expert either, but heres my 2 cents worth!
I would have to say one of the most important things to look for in your drop-away rest is simplicity of the mechanism.....less parts, less can go wrong. I have used three different brands thus far and notice no difference in accuracy from one to the other when they are set up properly. I would stay away from inertia driven drops such as the trap door, as they don't seem as durable as a simple corded drop- away. As they start to wear they can become a pain to get to stay up through your draw.
A few that I can reccomend:
1. Cavalier Avalanche - inexpensive, simple and has been very dependable for me thus far
2. Trophy Taker (Shakey Hunter or original) - probably the simplest and most dependable drop-away on the market. If I were in the market for a drop-away right now it would definately be my choice.
3. Quick Tune 4000 - again, very simple and dependable. I would however reccomend replacing the wire with cord as the the stiff wire has a tendency to bend out into the path of the cables and fletches.
Again, I'm no expert....just my humble opinion!
Good luck choosing your rest!

8) :-) 8)
I'm shooting a NAP Quicktune 2000.
Works OK, not too much noise. Was having some problems with fletching contact, until I changed from cock feather down to cock feather(vane) up.
That seemed to cure the problem. If you set the curve into the cable on setup, it'll usually stay out of the way.

I use, and recommend, the GKF TKO. This is the most durable, versitle, and easy to setup drop away rest I've ever seen. It can be used as a drop away, as a two prong TM Hunter style rest, or as a target rest with the lizard tounge launcher. It also has hash marks to make tuning easier. This is just a top notch rest. You'll not find a better one for the money anywhere. I have had absolutely no problems with setup, or operation of this excellent rest. Just my two cents. Be safe.

Pretty much any GKF product I have used is a good bet .... I Also have a Trophy Taker that I will not get rid of ......
I recconment the TKO or the Power drop (Similar idea as the zero effect ... only simpler to set up and use)
and the trophy taker I wont get rid of .....that that as you will ..... damn fine rest

trophy taker, i`ve heard a few people say that their release arms have broken off after only a few hundred shots but I used mine for thousands upon thousands of shots and it works as good as new.
