I have seen drop tine bucks and sheds here in Ontario, but have never seen or heard of a non-typical whitetail buck being taken.
Questions -
(1) Are there non-typical whitetail bucks present in Ontario,
(2) Elsewhere in Canada?
(3) Is it deemed to be a genetic trait that is carried to next generations?
Thanks
Len

Last December my father saw a huge double drop tine buck every day when it came in to feed on the brush that he was cutting for a pole line he was building. He didn't have permission to hunt there so it was safe. This was about an hour north of Perth.
My cousin shot a big drop tine buck south of Perth in 2003 - see attached pic.
They are out there but in Ontario many of them don't get old enough to become non-typicals.

Thanks for the answers, I will certainly keep my eyes open for a non-typical racked buck.
Look fwd to seeing one myself someday, hopefully through the bow sight!!
