Hey guys! As you can see this is my first post here, but have been lurking for quite a while now. This is a great site 8)!
I have a question for you experts. I am going to be going to get myself a buffalo on a family friends ranch in the hills. Doing it for meat, but I want to make it a little exciting. I have narrowed my choices of stopping power to my bow, or a 50 calibre hawkin black powder replica. I have lots of other toys that would do the job, but like I said I want to make it a bit of a challange. I am thinking I would like to use my bow, but my bow has been collecting dust for a couple of years now and I need to update a few things. Mainly my broadheads.
Right now I am shooting some older 4 blade wasp 100 grain. I want you to give me your opinions on what would be a good broadhead from your experiances. Technoligy changes so much every year, I cant keep up with it all. Too many hobbies, too little time :(.
Thanks in advance :D

Has anyone tried these? They look like something I might be interested in.

Davey .... Welcome to the site ...how the hell are ya ...
You know as well as anyone else I know that fer a critter like a Fuf-a-lo the best way to do it is some big knetic energy and them giant furballs have a pretty thick coat and skin ... yer wasp 100s would probally do the job ...provided they are super sharp ...you know that ... I personally would look at a heavier head if i am goin after a bigger critter like a 'Lo but you will hafta reset yer bow ... which you should do anyway cause its been collecting dust the last several years.
Personally I have never shot a Banshee head .... But I have heard mixed reviews on them ie: good stopping power ..... Not slotted therfore un-reliable flight path etc....
If yer interested in settin' up yer bow ... give me a call on my cell after 1600hrs (874-4976) as i got a real good arrow butt and my place is only 20 mins or so from some great practice territory

Ain't had a chance to reply to this yet. DO NOT USE AN EXPANDABLE!!! Look for something like the Rocky Mountain Premiere 100's (depending on the current weight of your points of course) but a fixed 3 blade style is what you are going to want on this hunt. The 'lo's hide is really thick so you need something to penetrate and do a whack of damage.
Other than that, get your arse out here and let's do some shooting!

Just my .02 on the subject, but there isn't anything wrong with shooting an expandable for a buffalo. Bighorn (from this board) shot a 2400 lb bull this spring at 44 yrds and blew clean through it with a Spitfire 100 gr expandable. If you are making decent enough energy it can be done no problem. He has some kick ass video of the shot as well......pretty cool. Can never go wrong with a fixed blade though.....I just like the way an expandable flies.

I guess it went down right away huh? What kind of broadhead is that exactly? How far was the shot?
