View Full Version : Help with my cable slide - please???

I noticed the other day that the vane on my arrows barely touches the cable when it it released. There's getting to be a wear spot on the cable just above where they cross before they go through the cable slide. I put on a new Sims teflon cable slide last fall and the only way I could figure out how to install it was on the arrow side of the cable slide rod.

How can I fix this? I really like the Sims cable slide because it's so quiet and smooth and I don't want to go back to the stock slide.

My description's poor but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about and how to fix it.

Thanks.

If you can't put the cable the other side of the cable guard, can you move the guard further from the arrow path?If you can't do it you'll have to change your cable slide.

If the rod is offset you can loosen the set screw, and twist the rod a little bit to move the cables away from the arrow path.

It might help if we knew what kind of bow it is.

The bow is a Buckmaster Ultra Mag. If I put the cable slide on the other side of the cable rod/guard the cables push against the rod and not the slide. The rod is offset and I have twisted it as far away from the arrow path as I can.

The Installation Instructions at the Sims web-site show how it should be set up:

The only difference is my cable rod/guard is below the handle not above like shown in the picture. Maybe the rod should be moved to above the arrow? (If there's a spot for it - I'll check at home tonight)

how big are yer Vanes ?????
have you triied going to a slightly smaller vane?

I mean Arrows are alot easier to change and tune than yer bow set-up IMHO
