Ok everyone...I am hoping for some input on this from a bunch of you all.
I have been using ebay for a long time and got tired of the high fees and such that they charge. So, with that in mind, I have created www.ehunt.ca which is an on-line auction / classified site for outdoors related products only. We have a full truck parts section etc...
We have around 110 members so far and we are getting decent hits from the site. We are not charging for the service at this time so you can buy or sell at your leisure and with out cost.
What my questions are:
Is this something that you, as outdoorsmen and women, would use?
How would you go about promoting it?
Why wouldn't you use it?

Warden,
I think that ehunt.ca is a great idea, I usually check once a week for new stuff to buy. For promting your site I would go to other hunting sites and let people know what is available. I think its only a matter of time before that site really takes off, many people like yourself are fed up with ebay.

I am all for it. In fact, I have a bunch of stuff to list. Just have to find the time!

 Great idea Warden! We're thinking of getting a new wall tent for moose camp, could be a good place to look around for one. :D

How about prices in Canadian funds???This is where we /you are and the site is called "Ehunt.CA".
I saw an article that will only be shipped to canada and yet it is asking for US dollars?? what gives there?
It would be more attractive if the listings were not so long also. as nobody bids on items that are 30 days away from being sold.It should be able to grow nicely but I would like to see it reflect Canada better.

Thanks for the input Pete. I am just getting the site up and going and the option to sell in the currency of your choice is coming. My developers tell me 2 - 3 weeks away. That way each and every person that sells stuff, can sell in either CAD or USD. I don't like that option very much either and it is being changed right away. In the new software, the max time to bid or to list a classified is 14 days. No longer any 30 day auctions or classifieds.
You should mention this site to bowman bob as well....We have a premium dealer section that would allow him to sell stuff on-line if he wanted. But get him to wait until the upgrades are made to the site, that way there's no messin' around with the us/cad funds thing :)
Thanks a ton for all of your input so far....Anyone else??

One thing I have noticed is we can sell stuff locally for say $50cdn but we can also sell it to the Americans for $50usd. This is where the better deals come into play. Hopefully it will catch on across the US.

I like The idea and will use it I am presently looking for arrows or shafts. Was on ebay but lost out on a deal. If canadian curency is used it represents your ehunt.ca site as truly a canadian site. I hate dealing with the US exchange rate, Americans will enjoy exchanging to our lower dollar.

I've bought a number of items on eBay but you really have to know your prices, get confirmation for shipping cost to Canada for every item and take exchange rates into account.
I'm a buyer, not a seller so for those of you with stuff to get rid of: Build it and they will come!
Anyone got an Alpine Soft Loc 3 or 5 arrow quiver they want taken off their hands?
