:? I'm fairly new to the site, but really like it so far!
Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Rocket Ultimate steel broadheads? I really love the penetration and flight but a little concerned with the cutting diameter (7/8).. what do you guys think? I'm shooting moose and elk,,so far using thunderheads..

I've heard that some people have been having problems getting them to screw in as the threads appear to be a bit short. Don't know if they've fixed his or not. You may also want to try the die hard heads like the thunderheads, muzzy, or the slick ticks which fly great. I use both the rockets steelheads as well as the slick tricks. Good luck.

Havoctime:

I have used the Ultimate Steels for the past year. I have to say that they are real penetrators!!!!!!

I was able to test them on penned elk last spring. With a 75# ExtremeVFT I was getting full length penetration on cow elk at 35 yards. One of the elk I shot was running at 30 yards and I shot a little too far back and hit the gut but the arrow went throught he animal and then through a 1 x 4 plank of the fence and then another 30 yards into the next pasture. The setup was at 5 gr/lb and the performance was awsome.

I also shot a 150 class full velvet Mule deer in Sept. last fall at 62 yards with this setup and I had a complete pass through , breaking two ribs and only the fletching was sticking out of the hill behind the animal!!!!!!

There seems to be no problem with penetration and thats what counts!!!!

Two holes are always better than one. There was plenty of blood to track any of the animals if I had to.

Hope this helps

Stick with your thunderheads, you know how they preform, and they have proven themselvs to be a very good head.Trying another head out on a large animal is not a good idea.Trying out a new head on a deer is a beter idea, they are not as big or hard to put down.Just my thoughts.pan.
