Hello Everyone,

I have just moved from the UK to Quebec Canada, I wanted to start hunting with a bow or crossbow. Can anyone tell me if i need a licence to posses and use such a weapon. If anyone can suggest how i get started hunting, that would alos be great. I have been trying to get solid info for 3 months now with no help and cannot find a way into the hunting community.

Many Thanks

You don't need a license to possess a crossbow or a bow. Out west here a crossbow can only be used during firearms season unless you have special exemption status to use one during the archery season (usually the result of a medical condition). Look up a fish and game association in your area you should be able to find information about hunting in your region through them. As well you can go on-line and read the regulations pertaining to Quebec at the government web site. Good luck
