Hey Guys,
Lets hear some comments on Custom strings? How many guys shooting them? What brand? Material?

I've been thinking of swapping out the strings on my Switchback XT for some nice custom ones before I get shooting it a pile. Any comments???

Looking at Bucknasty's over at Archerytalk or talkin wtih the boys at CAC to see what they reccomend...

Allan at Worlds Best Strings and Grips makes some fine products. I just changed out to his strings on my diamond and I put my hooded ball peep (no tube) in it immediately. Once I got the peep straight it hasn't moved a bit. Been probably 700 arrows or more since then and it's still right where it was on day one.

You can give him a call at 306-628-3992 or email him at abandreas@sasktel.net

Does World's Best have a web site? Did you have to send him your bow? If not, were the strings easy to fit and were they exactly the right length?

Thanks for any info.

Dan.

I have bought many strings for myself and others from Vapor Trail with no problems whatsoever. they are fast and stretch free. You can get a complete set for a dual cam for around $100...less for a solo if I recall. Great service and FAST...when you hang up the phone they go to work....usually they ship within a day of ordering.

Thanks man. When you say whole set, do you mean cables as well?

another vote for World's Best Strings, I just did the string & cable on mine ($45) so far so good, about 100 arrows so far.

I have used The following with a quick review

Vapour Trail,----JUNK!
Winners Choice, --- OK
Mathews Barracuda--- Stock String... need I say more
World's Best.... AWESOME.... No problems with eating cable.... latest measure works good nd service is exemplary....

Give him the emeasurement off of your bow or measure sting from inside of loop to inside of loop and he will ship....

My peep does not move..... 3000 arrows!.....now!.... String still like new!....

I use what equipment works best for me!... Not who will sponsor me!....

Thanks man. When you say whole set, do you mean cables as well?

Strings and cables for a dual cam will run you $82 U.S......approx $95 Cnd to your door.
As stated above never had any problem with them....I won't slam other companies but I have personally seen two bows blow up at full draw due to cable failure and they were both from the same company.......one of the string makers listed above. One was a year old set and the other was less than a month old...scary stuff to watch...buyer beware!!.

OK a few questions I hope I can answer.

Team PSE Worlds Best Strings are prestreched and available in a variety of custom colors.

BowWalkerBC No need to send in your bow just tell him your measurements, I took mine right out of my owners manual. No website that I know of but give him a call, he's very easy to deal with.

I just decided on Bucknasty over at Archerytalk. His strings look amazing and so far a TON of people have reccomended them to me. Seems a lot class them in the same class as Winners Choice.

I'm having him make me a set to match my Grip and wrist sling. So far I think I'm going with 452x in Tan/Mtn Berry with Black serving......should look pretty darn good. If not those colours, then Black/Tan with Black serving all around....either way it will look good I'm sure.....

Thanks for the input guys.....nothing against Worlds Best, just felt like going with Bucknasty for my first set. They are going to cost me $61 shipped to Canada for 2 colours, or $71 for 3 colours...

Good luck, I'm sure the strings will work great for you. One note I wouldn't get 3 color strings, just cuz it's easier to split a 2 color string for a peep. Of course that could just be me.

Yea just decided on 2 colour....for that exact reason....

I've shot quite a few differnet strings and WC were good but pricey, Al Soutwood at the Calgary Archery Center builds a damn good string. I set the Canadian FITA record shooting them, never had any problems. Worlds Best look great and I haven't heard anything bad about them from those I know that shoot them.

Mathews Barracuda string ranks as one of the best I have ever used, and no I actually don't have to shoot them. I still have the original strings on 3 of 4 of my bows and they have never moved, the 4th just wore out after 1000's of arrows. I was leary of even trying them since I had heard bad things about them, but they were great.

Thats really good to know.....I've had one set from Al and they worked great on my Jennings. I still have plenty of time left on my XT strings.....thanks!!

Kevin....how often do you replace your strings? I've got to get my string re-served at the nock point, but other than that is pretty new......I'll probably keep the Bucknasty's as a backup and replace them after the season sometime....not sure if it will make a difference or not.....but nice to have a backup set.

I replace my strings every 6 months. Generally before indoor and outdoor season. Thats on my target bows and they get shot alot. My hunting bow usually once per year 3 months or so befor hunting season. I'm sure I could get two years out of a string but for the peace of mind I change them anyways. I try to wax them once a month but usually forget, seems to shorten the life slightly.
