hello out there,

need some advice on buying a couple of compound bows for my 2 boys. They are 9 and 6 and have spent the winter in the garage shooting at my decoy with their home made bows and the occasional ruffie out side that wandered in. What bow has the lowest draw weight (found 17lbs) and draw length for as the grow. Any help would be appreciated.

I have 3 boys, 12, 9,& 6 years old and they all have either Browning Micro Adrenalines or Micro Midas 2 bows and they are excellant. Lots of adjustment ( the 2004 models have 10" of draw length) and I believe they go as low as 10 or 15 lbs. They shoot great and the boys are accurate with them which keeps their interest high.

I have had good luck with a Hoyt Banshee, my oldest daughter used it now my yougest uses it. The PSE spider is a nice bow as well.

Here is a picture of my 6 year old shooting his Browning Micro Midas 2 at a recent 3d shoot. He cannot get enough of these shoots, he loves them.

thanks to all of you who answered my questions. Taking kids to pro shop to let them shoot a couple of bows. RodS, what is the weight your son is pulling on his Micro, also are you making them shoot fingers right now or are they using releases.

thanks again

Shaun. He is shooting about 15lbs. and is shooting a release although all my boys first started with fingers. He was shooting a recurve at 4. My 12 year old shoots a Micro Adrenaline and places first in every shoot he has gone into. The photo is from last weekend and my 9 year old took first and the 6 year old took second place in the cubs compound class. The 9 year old shot a 222 out of 500. Good equipment really pays off for keeping them interested when they can shoot well.
