:wink: I wonder if this animal came from a "game farm" were exotics are also farmed primarily for hunting. I have`t heard of the black phase of WT deer and as such remain suspect.

There is a rare condition that is the opposite of an albino. The hair gets too much of whatever causes the coloration and as result the animal appears darker than normal. I think it's called melanism but I'm not sure. It's supposedly as rare as albinoism. I'll have to do a search and find out more.
