Canada wins medals at 2006 Junior/Cadet World Archery Championships
Ottawa – October 23, 2006
"On behalf of the High Performance Committee, the FCA Executive and Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to announce the Canadian medallists at the world junior/cadet world championships, which took place in Mérida, MEX on October 14-21," announced Mr. Alain Gravel, FCA's Vice-President of High Performance.
"Junior compound archer Doris Jones (Selkirk, MB) won the individual gold medal! This is the first time a Canadian has won an individual gold medal at the junior/cadet world championships. Doris was fortunate to make the world championships at all; she was in a major car accident just two days before leaving for Mérida. Doris won the silver medal as a cadet in 2004.”
"Our cadet women's compound team won the bronze medal and set a new world record! (OR 226) Team members were Camille Bouffard-Demers 5th (Becancour, QC), Candace McIntosh 14th (St. Adolphe, MB) and Carolyne Dupuis 17th (Berry, QC)."
"Our junior men's compound team won the bonze medal! Team members were Nathan Cameron 8th (Sherwood Park, AB), Alexandre Dupuis 10th (Berry, QC), and Mathew Cornish 20th (Saskatoon, SK). "
"This is the second time Canada has won team medals at this event."

2. Bids for Canada Cup 2007
FCA is pleased to accept bids from interested FCA clubs in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia for 2007. This annual tournament has been designated as a major event by FCA’s High Performance Committee. The round(s) chosen must include a registered FITA Star (FITA) and Canadian Double Elimination Round. Doping Control facilities must be provided also. Interested clubs should send their bids, with details on rounds, costs, facilities and hotel information to the national office NO LATER THAN Friday, October 27, 2006.

3. Coach for 2008 Olympic Games and 2008 Paralympic Games
Applications by November 15, 2006.
Please note that the High Performance Committee of the FCA is accepting applications for the Head Coach position for the 2008 Olympics Games and Paralympic Games.
1/ Olympic Games Head Coach – the Canadian Olympic Committee’s (COC) policy regarding coaching certification requires that all support staff who will assume coaching responsibilities and who will be accredited by the COC during the 2008 Olympics Games be fully certified at NCCP Level IV. However, under certain circumstances the FCA can apply for an exemption to this rule.
Therefore, FCA will be accepting applications from coaches who have full NCCP level 3 certification, and who have completed at least 50% of their level 4/5 tasks. Approval of any coach nominated for this position by the FCA is subject to the COC’s discretion.
2/ Paralympic Games Head Coach - Full NCCP level 3 certification, with at least 50% of their level 4/5 tasks completed preferred.
Interested applicants should forward their resumes to the FCA office for consideration before November 15th, 2006.

Over the past year, NCCP partners have been looking at the potential roles that the new NCCP could play in the high school system.
