I bought a new hunters view tree stand last fall. Its the eagle model and so far I really like it. Only problem is I ordered it from the states and I didn't get it until the last couple of weeks of season. It's a cable climber and very comfortable with a large platform and shotting rail and thick adjustable padded seat. What kind do you use and how do ya like it?P.S. we also use 12 ft ladder stands that a buddie built from one inch square tubing awesome stands.

I prefer to still hunt or spot and stalk, but on those days where I can sit still for a few minutes I use a Kong hang on stand.

I've got several permanent stands built in travel corridors and funnels. I've also built a number of wooden hang-on stands using the plans I found at the following site:

http://www.itd.umich.edu/~jeffreym/htm/dnatseert_ipav2.htm

Just make sure to buy good lumber with no knots, warps or bark. They're quite comfy and we make them for about $35 each, including the ratchet straps.

Interesting build. I'm not sure if I would trust a wooden stand up that high...But I am a BIG chicken when it comes to tree stands. :D

I use a couple of different tree stands...I have hangers and a couple of ladder stands that I love.

If you guys want an awesome and portable ladder stand, go and check out http://www.hideouttreestand.com and see the unit that they have. It's awesome and comfy! I love mine!!

I was a little leary of it at first too. I weigh 210 lbs, plus the weight of all my clothing and gear, and it's rock solid. I use doubled over fence wire from one front corner, behind the seat and to the other front corner and then twist each side using pliers to tension it. Each ratchet strap is rated for 1000 lbs and I use two. The deck screws are 3" long and the glue at every joint takes out the squeaks. I also screw some 1-1/2" wood screws through the back plate to bite into the tree so it won't shift when you move around.

I had the stand set at 20' for one of my stands this past year and I wasn't worried about the rocky landing for a minute. Plus, the safety strap is added peace of mind.

My cousins and I have made 10 of them over the past two summers and everyone who's sat in them loved them - and the price is right too. If anyone wants I can post a .PDF of the AutoCAD drawing I've done showing the cuts required in a 4'x8' sheet of 3/4" plywood to make 7 stands at a time.

It's very quiet! I've got one I've used two seasons now and it's still silent. I put it up at Labour Day last year and took it down after New Years and still no squeaks. The liquid nail glue at every joint really helps keep things tight and the deck screws give it strength. The only noise is if you kick the fence wire. I've had many deer within 10 yards the past couple of years and haven't been busted because of noise.

I'll try to get the .PDF made and posted today if my work schedule permits.
