Made it out for the first time last week. I've had a 6x5 whitetail patterned for the last month. Got to my tree stand early and 2 hours later here he comes. Just as it happens he came into a shooting lane that I hadn't even considered yet and didn't know the yardage on. Therefore I passed him up for another day and avoided doing something stupid. Turns out it was only 32 yards, but I'm ready now!

Lots of deer this morning, big bucks stayed just out of range, small ones directly under my stand of course. Watched them through the grate of my tree stand. &*$#@$^
I did see a monster 5x5 last night that I hadn't seen before though :hump:

We need to get more circulation on intelligent choices like this. Kudos.

In my stand at 6:30 this morning, everthing is perfect, wind perfect, scent perfect and the weather well perfect. There's one shooting lane that I've been meaning to clear for the last couple of weeks, anyways I haven't. Guess where the 5x5 walks, yup right into that shooting lane, 30 yrds. There's only a couple branches that are between me and him but I still don't want to spook him or worse wound him by hitting one of the branches. Suckers got my number but the shooting lane's clear now and I'm still hunting.

Went out Tuesday morning. Didn't get my deer but did see a Pileated Woodpecker. Coolest woodpecker I've ever seen, didn't even know they lived in Alberta! Has anyone else seen one of these? Not your normal woodpecker these are as big as a crow.

Good morning of hunting. Got my first Whitetail and first bow harvest!! Here's proof that Sonic Broadheads work great!
This is the same deer that I passed up my first day, offered a perfect 10 yard, quartering away shot out of my tree stand.
Had to actually wait until he moved out from underneath my stand before I could draw on him.
Bow - Old PSE Carol Intruder
Arrow - Carbonarrow (Easton)
Broadhead - Sonic 100gr
Great year so far! Now I'm buyin' a new bow!
