So, on Friday after work, I grabbed a couple of stands and headed out to WAter Valley to set them up on some land I hunt. Got the first stand set up just off an opening in the fence which shows major signs of travel.
Headed back to the truck, drove down the pasture 400 yards or so and parked. I headed into the bush with another stand to set it up on a ridge just above a creek. As I got down to where the creek made a 90 degree bend, I could here some thrashing just around the corner. I though it was one of the horses, but when I took one more step, I could see it was definately a horse. A horse of a Muley that is.
I was no more than 12 yards downwind of him as he worked over a willow bush disposing of his velvet. It was quite a sight. I got the pleasure of watching him for about 10 minutes before he walked off. I figure he would be a 160" 5X5.
After he left, I walked up the ridge and got to work setting up my stand. From he ridge I saw two smaller WT bucks come to the creek for water.
I was about half done setting up the stand and I could her some banging coming from the pasture. I didn't think much of it, but got a hell of a surprise when I got back to my truck. The horses were milling around my truck. The banging was one or more of the F@@king horses beating the hell out of the front end of my truck. They kicked out the diving lights, kicked and scratched both front fenders, and get this, they kicked the hood hard enough to dent and scratch it in half a dozen spots. Man I was pi$$ed.
Any ways, it was a pretty exited evening all around.
