:) Traditional archery is alive and well in BC. The Semiahmoo Fish and Game club hosted this years TBBC Championships and were a delight to camp and shoot for three days (May longweekend).
Over 104 traditional archers attended (two used carbon arrows ) and a wayward compounder showed up and was welcomed to shoot. In spite of wood arrow requirments past Championships have always been well attended with over 100 archers.
 The course consisted of 34 targets and ranged from moving targets to a bear in a boat poaching fish out of a pond located just back of the Clubhouse . Several novety shoots took place as well as a Hunter Round .
:) Lots of quality door and raffle prises were available and included NINE bows of which four were for cubs and youths .
:) Next year this shoot will be in Trail and a little closer to you in case some of you wish to attend .

Looks like you had an excelent turnout. We will be penciling the Trail shoot in the calendar for next year now that carbon arrows are not Taboo.
Hope to see you there.

Hey petew , The TBBC Champs have always been wooden arrows to score and anything else to have fun . Compounds and any form of arrow are welcome to all our 3-d events with one exception that being the Championships. However we will not turn anyone away based on what they shoot.
We have a good mixture of bowhunters (Traditional, Modern and Crossbows) attend our Rendell Ck Dinner at the late season (first Sat inDec) Whitetail Archery hunt in the Okanogan . This has turned out to be a unique evening and is attended by 68 - 72 hooten, hallern, thirsty and hungry bowhunters . Last year we went thru over 100 lbs of Baby Back Pork Ribs and 60 lbs of Van Isl Prawns . Great food , great drink, great door , raffle prises and great people - Nothing else needed PRICLESS !!!

I guess I mis-understood the first post and thought that shooting Carbon arrows were allowed to score.
Got to find the eraser now. We won't be there.
I don't understand the logic that won't allow a modern, straight and better arrow, yet you can use bows cut past center, Carbon limbs, Fiberglass backed limbs, modern synthetic strings like DF97 FF 8125, yet the old guard thinks that all this is Traditional except for the arrow shaft material. This is counter productive. Are the wood shaft shooters that afraid of being out scored that they put up obsticals.
Obviously Carbon arrows are superior , or they would be welcome on the scoring cards.
Promoting second class arrows is not productive .We need to promote the best there is to the hunting comunity, and we should be practicing and shooting with what we hunt with.We should be hunting with the best there is.
The primitive class is where wood arrows belong. It is a real puzzler that you welcome a crossbow in some functions though. They are not even close to bow hunting, and they are attempting to squeeze into our bowhunting seasons.

Hey petew , The T in TBBC stands for traditional and as stated we include a class for Selfbows and English Longbows .
In regards your comment about wood shaft shooters being afraid of being outscored that we put out obsticals .We had several Canadian and Provincial Champions attend as well an archer who placed 4th or 3rd in the IBO World Championships . As one of the event organizers I would have loved to place you in their squad . Further in regards to obsticals , For a wide open course I would go to a Field shoot . Personnaly I like the touch the stake and having to shoot around , over or under in a challenging bowhunting senario .
Excuse my sarcasm when i say the proffet margin in a dozen wood shafts is not as much as a dozen carbon shafts and all of your coments seem to focus on the commercial aspect of archery.
Your comment on promoting second class arrows is totally out of line (I am doing my best to keep this civil) and I take offence to your statement We should hunting with the best there is. If this were thru we would all be using 7mm Magnums or the 84mm Carl Gustof Anti- Tank Recoiless Rifle.
Petew , Crossbows (which I don`t like) are a legal bowhunting weapon in BC and are welcome to our Annual Rendell Ck Dinner for bowhunters .. It is a lot easier to convert a friend then an adversary.
In closing and you wont hear any more on this , YOU are the only one (not sure about calgarychief) who not only complained about the wood arrows but attemped to shape the Event to suit your shooting requiements .
THE END
