What kind of rest do you use on your 3D Bow? Answer the poll and elaborate in the thread please.
I use GKF TKO Spring Steel Luanchers on my 3D bow. They shoot great for me

Trophy taker spring steel.
KISS principle.
Watched Dave Cousins in arizona flip his arrows upside down so the vane would smash off the launcher hang 10s at 70m all day long with this set up. Most of the top target archers in the world shoot a blade so it must work.
Simplicity and nothing to go wrong.
Avalanche drop-away for hunting.

well Wook ... You know i use the exact set-up as you ... GKF TKO with the sping steel blade ....Had delutions about going to a wire basket ... But the blade is working for me at this point ...so why change ...
for hunting this year I am not sure what I am gonna use .... I have had good luck with the disk , bisquit, Trophy Taker fallaway as well as the Cobra Diamond back ....
I guess I gotta make that decition soon huh ?

I'm cheap, I just use my basic ol' prong rest. I don't do any serious hardcore shooting so getting all hopped up with fancy gadgets is of no real benefit to me at this point in time.
Once I start shooting more often, and start competing I'll look at maybe a drop away or something. For the little bit of paper poppin I do at present, it's just not a justifiable expense to get fancy.

I am using the APA twister. I have been using it for at least three years now and no trouble at all.

Is that teh one that attaches to the limb by the top Cam?
yes it is. if you check out the web site it explains how it works. Interesting if you can get around the idea of the long upward string.

There ya go Scott .....
Personally I dont like it for anything more than a Target rest .... and there is no reason for a Drop away rest for Target shooting in my Eyes
the vid on that link however ...does a great job showing the forces that one puts their bow thru every time they launch an arrow

For target shooting it looks decent...It would never make it within 10 feet of going on my hunting bow though....too long of a string....

Look close at the Vid ... It even shows ya why I wouldnt even put the thing on my bow .... ...as the limbs vibrate the rest will rise again and contact the fletches ....
Actually the video you see was of the prototype. They apparently have fixed the bouncing that you see and now the rest does't move once it goes down. Don't see myself hunting with it but it would be fun to play with.

Then they should put that vid on the web maybe?
I'll stick to my 'over' priced GK platinum premiere, thanks.

I would say the WB would be a prong style ...
wire Basket would be similar to a blade launcher style ..but made from a wire instead of spring steel ...

Prong

I personally would put Bo-doodle type ... as well as Whisker Biscuits (for this poll) as Prong rests
WB are actually known as "Containment" rests ...
There are some fine Containment rests out there such as the WB ... Golden Keys Whisper disc, ... APA has a containment rest out there as well ....

For those of you wondering ...whats a Contianment rest....
here are some examples ...
GKF whisper Disc

GKF shoot Out
http://goldenkeyarchery.com/images/pics/ATT00089.jpg
GKF Funnel
http://goldenkeyarchery.com/images/pics/ATT00052.jpg
Basically the purpose behind them is to "Contain" your arrow and keep it in place as you move around for the perfect shot ...... basically a "set it and forget it" deal
I have seen some containment rests be shot from hanging up-side down ....
Hope i cleared a bunch of questions up fer ya'll

Hmm speaking of containment rests...
Has anyone had a chance to eyeball and/or test drive the Ultra-Rest HUnter or Ultra-Rest LD from Quality Archery Designs?
From the looks of it the gadget is a cross between a Dropaway and a containment rest.
I been debating putting one of these on my bow but am a bit hesitant as I can't test drive it first and definately cannot affor to sit on it if I don't like it.
Anyone got comments on this one?

My daughter and I both use the Rip Cord. It's been great for us.
I've been use a Ripcord for the last couple of years with great success. I currently have one mounted on my X-Force (342fps) and it gives me plenty of fletch clearance. Before that I used a whisperbisket and had great luck with it. The only drawback was the fletching wear.

Gaelan Hmm speaking of containment rests...
One of my buddies has one and really seems to like it. It is quiet and he likes the fact that if he lets down under control it stays in the raised position.
I myself use an APA Twister Safari.
Question. I have noticed that alot of you guys use the sping steel rest for 3D, so I was wondering if there is an advantage to them over a drop away rest? What do they offer in the terms of fletch clearance etc... :sos:
KISS - keep it simple silly. There's less things to go wrong. I've had problems with trigger cables moving on fall aways. I've also seen one brand break 2x at the pivot stop. Also the rest rope can change cam timing on a 2 cam bow enough to cause tuning problems.

I have one - lasted with me for a week. I HATED the fact it had to be cocked EVERY shot and I shoot LOTS so it made me cranky and I removed it. I run TT or ripcord, at least they WILL lift up on draw and shoot like a drop-away without being cocked. the QAD DID shoot well and group well, but I didn't like cocking it every shot. That's my personal preferences though, others like it I'm sure.
