I use the Zeiss 8 x 40's as well. Amazing binos. I love em. I use them for both hunting and 3-D.

I use a set of 8x42 Bushnell Trophy's & my wife used 8x42 Alpen's for shooting. If I were a rich guy I would be buying Swarovski's or Steiners.

Alpen Shasta Ridge 8x42 for most everything .....Best Bino for the buck
As you can see very clear pic ..even the edges .... that is taken about 60 some yrds away thru a pair of Alpen 8x42
After some research I bought Baush and Lomb Elite 8 x 42 Excellent glass for the price yet very comparable to Swarovski Lieca and Ziess for hunting and 3-D

got my Zeiss for 3d, and a really great pair of Pentax for hunting.
Honestly the Zeiss are just about as good as they come for anything.

Swarovski and Leica's are what I use for hunting. For 3 D I use Bifocals only. When it is real serious I clean the lenses.

How are the Steiners? I was seriously thinking about them or Minox before I chose the Leupold WindRiver.

My Minox binos were excellent until the retractable eye pieces broke and the cost of repair was too much and the warranty service on Minox was terrible compared to actual Leica products. I did fix them so they are functional if you don't wear glasses and need to retract the eyepeices.
Since I wear glasses and wanted a set of Binos for the Lethbridge 3D I picked up a set of winchester binos from the Calgary Archery Centre. These things were very reasonably priced and very sharp. For a low-mid priced bino I was extremely impressed as was everyone who looked through them on the weekend.

A compact set of Bushnell 12x's (forget the exact model - about $80 at Wal-Mart). Nice and light, plenty of zoom, and the grips are just right so when I swing em up to my eyes, the first thing that comes into focus is where I was looking to begin with. Probably not the best glass I ever looked through, but thouroughly adequate for the likes of me.
I give two thumbs up for just about everything Bushnell makes - great bang for the buck. Their customer service is second to none as well.
