I was purusing another site today and this question camp up .... I want to know all your opinions as well

Is it ok to Drink in hunting camp???

I think its fine as long as your responsible about it ....and dont get stupid

People that I camp alot with outside of hunting season ...generally dont hunt and have no use for knives and weaponry .... That being said another group that I camp with we have a "No Knives around the fire" rule ...fer good reason.

What do ya'll think does Beer and Spirits belong in a camp with Bows and Rifles??

Only in the evening after the guns or bows are put away until the morning.

To have drinks and tell stories about the days hunt around the fire is a big part of hunting for me. Hanging around with friends that you trust to hunt with are also friends that you drink around the fire with.
With that being said, drinking untill you cant walk in not acceptable. You have to remember that the plan was to hunt . You must be fit, and aware of whats going on, and where everyone is to stay safe. A blurry mind and wepons do not mix either.

Drink all you want....just don't wreck my hunting time. I love to drink and some nights I make the decision that I'm not hunting tomorrow and I get plastered. Then I wake up puke my guts out and when I feel better I make supper for the guys who did make it out. That's only when we go for an extended hunt...if it's just a day or two it's not fair to the others if I'm too hung over to join them and the same is true of the other way around.

Keep it safe no guns in your hands when you're drinking....although a can of beer in the afternoon while sitting in the warm sun is hard to beat.

lol--what fits better than booze and guns???????????

If you need a rule like that, it may be better to just leave the beer @ home.

I would have to agree with Russ if you need rules like that and you cant trust the guys you hunt with when they drink I would be finding some different people to hunt with. My buddie Dave always says it not how big the animal is after the hunt its the story you get to tell about the hunt ( and you guys who know Dave he can sure tell huntin stories LOL).Hunting stories always go better with a few beers or whatever you drink. The laughing and a few drinks and the stories is in my mind is part of what keeps most of us coming back the next year to do it all over again.

Drinking is saved for the butchering and sausage making.
No guns/knives involved and ii helps with the taste testing! http://forum.bowzone.ca/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0&forumid=13#

Having a beer or a whiskey after dark tellin' stories round the fire is part of the hunting experience for me. I am responsible enough to walk around with instruments of death, I'd better be responsible enough to know my limit. "Limit" meaning up and at'em bright and early with my wits about me. Anything more, save it for New Year's.

I look at it this way. First I totally agree that a few wobbly pops telling stories after a days hunt in camp is almost a necessity (if you drink that is). It is part of the experience of being in hunting camp. Safety is always important but I don't believe it has to be amplified because there are guns in camp. Afterall the biggest weapon is always around us when we drink, our egos and our vehicles. EVERYTHING IN MODERATION. CHEERS!!!!

If you cant handle guns and booze together then you should not have either of them seperately.
