I'm looking at getting new arrows and have been told to stay away from Carbon arrows for several reasons. Can I get some more opinions on Aluminum vs. Carbon arrows? Pros and cons??
I will be mostly target shooting at first and plan to hunt in the near future. I'm trying to learn everything I can. I'm reading whatever I can. What is best to pick up tips? Where is the best sources???
Thanks in advance for the responses....

Hey bro! This question is sorta like asking if you prefer Chevy or Ford, Honda or Toyota, Kawasaki or Arctic Cat, etc.
Pros and Cons to both as always although I so far have nothing bad to say about carbon arrows since I switched to them. Aluminum shafts bend real easy, maybe they're more economical when learning how to shoot but I wouldn't say they're better than carbon arrows. Carbon arrows seem to be able to take a lot more abuse but then again, for broadheads you need to get UBAR rings specifically for carbon shafts which isn't the case for aluminum.
Carbon arrows are smaller diameter too so don't forget to re-sight your bow if you switch from one type to another. That's about all I can say, I'm sure no expert on the issue!

I've heard that Carbon can shatter on release if shot in the bush and happened to graze a tree or something. You constantly have to check the condition of the arrow.
Just something I heard...

This question really depends on what type of archery your shooting.
For Target archery, FITA it's aluminium all the way. You just can't beat the constancy of alum or the spine tolerance.
For 3D archery you can go either way, but I shoot carbon because there lighter and faster as well as a little tougher. But your right about checking them all the time. I inspect my arrows after every shot.
And for hunting it can also go either way. Again I use Carbon for the toughness and the extra speed. They also seem to penetrate a little better.
For a beginner I would go with the carbon because they take allot more abuse then the alum will.
Hope this helps.

you should always inspect your arrows .Carbon or aluminum it doesnt matter we have had 2 cases where arrows have broke during a shot 1 was carbon and 1 was aluminum so for saftey please always check your arrows.

Carbon arrows are either straight or they're broke.I'll take them over alum arrows anyday.
