Hey Guys,
Just wanted to throw this out for you guys. I've shot 3D at the CAC for about 10 years now. I actually ended up winnin a shoot there, as I was in the youth category when I was about 14 and made it to the 'finals' and managed to get a good shot with my old PSE Spirit. Last year was the first year I shot a round over 500 and I was pretty pleased as I've been trying to break 500 for about 2 years. I think I shot a 507 or a 510.
My question for you guys, is how have you become sponsered by a company, or become a 'professional' 3D shooter? What does it take to get to that 'class' of shooter. I'm not really talking about practice, etc but more how you can actually accomplish something like this and gain a sponsorship or become a "Team Shooter" such as some of you are with the CAC, etc......
I've never pursued 3D archery very hard, and have only shot at the CAC.....have shot with a few of the guys on the board here. Just wantin to know 'what it takes'.....Any response would be appreciated....

Trev, shooting is a big part of becoming a sponsored shooter, but even bigger is being a great ambassador for your sponsors. To start out, help around your local shop, show them what you can do for them and you never know what will happen.

Trev,

I agree with Wookie.

Shooting is a big part of it, but sponsors are looking for ambassadors.

Help out when you can, listen when you should, and keep shooting.

Getting to the goal your inquiring will take alot of sacrifice, and dedication, but it can be done if your willing.

Good luck and welcome to the ADDICTION!!!!!!!!!! :loser:

Start small. Like Sniper, and Wookie mention, help around the shops, help with clubs(thats how I got my first), shops will help you out, and reference you to the local reps who will help you along the way.

The second thing to do is, once you have the results provide a resume for sponsership to companies. This is like a job application, and don't expect many positive results, but they will come.

Start travelling to shoots, get your name, and your face scene, and recognised. Good luck, and enjoy what you do, that is the key.
