If I freeze a cape, what are the chances of kinks and folds happening that won't come out? I've seen mounts with "cowlicks" on the neck from a rope used to drag, the taxidermist was'nt able to flatten the hair there.

Do not drag a deer with a rope around it's neck if you want your hair pattern to look natural. What you do when you use the rope is your breaking the hairs so its hard to hide if you do to much damage.Don't worry about folds when freezing I can't recall any problems due to folding most problems are animals not being caped out fast enough and to much blood meat/fat left on hide,Cape out your animal let it cool in fridge/freezer /outside(if its cold) then roll up and double rap, make sure you attach tags then freeze solid by letting it cool before you roll it up you help insure that the center of your cape is not warm .........Warm=bacteria..bacteria=hair slip..

Also a lot of those cowlicks are from people sticking there fingers into the mount against the hair causing it to break and bend.

NEVER roll up a hide to freeze it, it takes up to 4 days for the center of it to freeze. Just drop it in a bag and let it stack up.
