Thought I'd better get mine started. Been doing some scouting around the area here and have seen a fair amount of growing bucks....we'll see if we can put it together again this year....

Well, it's time...I'm heading out today to get permissions....find some places to bow hunt in the bowzone this year.

I'll report back here in the next little bit and let ya all know how it went.

Wish me luck.....

Well, it's been a run!...I went out on Saturday...Stopped at 15 places and came up empty handed...No permissions....So I went out with a buddy of mine to set up our game cameras on a spot that he can hunt and ended up getting attacked by wasps...Got stung about 8 or 9 times on my ears and head...Damn that hurt..

I'll post up more as it comes available.

Opening Day in the life of me...

Went out this morning and Caleb and I went in and hunted the bubble...He was late meeting me this morning so we got into stand when it was darn near light :(

Sat it for a few hours and didn't see anything at all but we did manage to scare up a doe on the way out of the bush this morning.

Now, tonights hunt was totally different. We hunted a kick a$$ stand on the edge of a canola field and had a 140 class buck in at about 15 yards. Passed on it though. There's a bigger one in that field.

So, now tomorrow I'll be heading to a new spot and hanging a stand in the morning there and hunting the "Highway" stand in the evening.

Hope to bring some excellent news soon!

I've been neglecting this for a while now...

So...short re-cap.

Sat - Chased a 50" bull and cow around a hay field for an hour or so...Couldn't get close enough for a shot...

Set up a treestand in the bush just south of the hay field that the moose were in.

Sun - Thought about hunting on Monday and ate too much...

Mon -

AM: Slept...didn't want to get out of bed.
PM: I sat the stand in the nipple and saw 2 fat does at about 60 yards...so I got out of the stand a bit early and went and sat behind a canola swath. Had 2 button bucks @ 8 yards...It was really cool...They stood there and looked at me and looked and walked around and looked some more...Had no idea what I was so they eventually sauntered off. That's when I saw him....6 x 6 gentleman's buck - perfectly typical. 150 yards...I had him pegged as he moved across the ridge line but he dipped down and I couldn't see him anymore. I thought it best to get out of there not to spook him...He'll come by my stand eventually this year.

Got back to the truck and Neil who had been sitting the new stand we put up on Sat. was back...He got his first bow kill last night.. A big fat doe. She ran straight into the thick spruce..what a pain trying to track her in the dark with flashlights. But we got her after about an hour of tracking and back tracking and so on and so on. Anywho..That was the long weekend for me.

Shot a moose last night. Not the biggest but sure was good eating.

Fried up the tenderloins with garlic butter, salt and pepper last night at 10:30pm and had a beer to go along with it.

YUMMY!

Awesome news Scott! Say, what are you up to around Nov. 10-12? I may be heading your way if you're available for a hunt?
