Good afternoon.

Ok, got my arrows yesterday for my Olympic Recurve.

We did the test prior to order... so I shoot 32# @ 25.5". So I ordered 26" X7 Eclipse 1714.

I did a few tests today :

1. Bareshaft paper test (Completely Stiff plunger, bareshaft aligned to string). From 3-4m in front of the paper, I did a major right tear (tail to the right) like 8-9".

2. Regular paper test (Medium plunger, right side of fletched arrow aligned to the string). Again, 4 inches tears to the right.

Tried to play with the plunger left-right position, but cannot go further right without touching the rest base. Tried to play with the plunger tension without success.

So, do I have to conclude that my shaft are too stiff ??? Frustrating since I relied on the shart...

Please advise,

Good morning, I'm surprised no one can help me on this...

There are so many variables here that can cause many effects. Best advice I have is to find a local coach who can assist you.

The 3 facors that affect spine most is shaft type, shaft length and tip weight. So you may be able to get a heavier tip weight to weaken spine....

cheers

Good afternoon. Since here I can't play much with type and length ;) I did increase my draw weight yesterday, improving a little bit. I currently have 60 grains tips, so how heavy should I try ?

BTW, there is no coach nearby here, the closest would be 90 minutes away...

Take the 90 minute drive and play for a couple of hours...

I don't know specifically what tips you should try, what I would do is progress up and not improvements and keep going until spine is showing weak. Adding tip weight and increasing draw weight have same affect they both weaken spine of arrow.

60 grain tips with that arrow also leaves a very low FOC as well so long distance shooting is also affected....

The purpose of the adjustable plunger tension is to fine tune spine. So if you have an arrow that's too stiff, having the spring tension on the plunger @ it's highest would be the incorrect way to go. Set the tension as weak as possible and re-check. Also, torquiing your bow will often indicate a stiff spine reaction that is actually non-existent. Hence, ACE repsonse.

Good evening. I had a 3D shoot tonight and grouped pretty well. As I read on other discussions, we must not rely that much on paper tuning for recurve ;) So, I did play with my plunger tonight and managed to have consistent left-right aim. So it seems like I got proper arrows after all. I wanted to do a new walkback test, but could not. But again, during warm up, it indicated that my plunger was too soft, so I did 1/3 turn and it was perfect, from 10 to 30 m.

Next step will be to make my finger release better, and I will order my first stabilizer to help me with my initial aim.

Thanks,
