Looking for some tech info on this subject. I am fairly new to this sport (enjoy it alot) but I keep hearing/reading about % of letoff (??). What exactally is this and is it something one should be keenly aware of? I'm shooting a Hoyt Predator with fingers at about 55-60#'s and if I recall correctly my carbon arrows are about 23" long. (I'm a little on the under tall side eh!)
A simple explantion on this subject is all I'm after and I thought someone here could help with this. I'm sure there is alot of material available on this subject somewhere (perhaps even on this site) but I'm basically lazy and thought this would be an easier way to gain a little insight.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Let off is just the percentage of weight dropped at full draw. IE, 65% let off means that from your peak weight say #60, after the let off you would only be holding #24, making it easier to stay at full draw, and theirfore more accurate, and faster. As you draw your bow you will notice the weight getting easier, this is the point let off takes effect.

what he said

ya know when you grunt sweat swear and moan to pull the bow back ..... generally about 15/16 of the way back it all of a sudden gets easier ..... thats yer let off point ..... then you only have to hold a fraction of yer draw weight ....... that percentage that you hear about is what yer holding of yer draw weight at full draw

:o

oh and welcome to the greatest sport on the planet (that isnt locked out  )
