anyone own an xtec or ultratec?do u like them?i'm thinking of buying one or the other.opinions welcome
I have an UltraTec and love it, but the XTec was Hoyts most popular model in 2004, the VTec will probably be Hoyts best for '05 and probably replace the Vtec in '06. Can't go wrong with any of the bows mentioned.

I absolutely love my Ultratec. For a bow that can shoot 3d target and hunt with the Ultratec is the way to go for me.

i currently have a 95 defiant fastflite and it still shoots great ,i also have a 2000 viper with c cams also shoots great (less forgiving)i have been put off the tec risers by their looks ,however i would like to get someting a little more forgiving than the viper.the ultratec has hung in there, with the hoyt lineup for a few years now and it seems to be the direction i would like to go.i had the xtec in my hand and it too was appealing so i'm not sure what i'll get or what else(in the hoyt lineup)i will consider.i'm looking for something fairly forgiving with decent fps.if anyone could suggest another hoyt that falls in there let me know and thanks for the insight.

The UltraTec and the XTec are basically the same bow with the UltraTec being up in quality over the Xtec by a bit.
Just wondering what how much diffrence is there between the ultratec and the supertec, besides the lower brace height and the speed. I'm curious on your opinions on accuracy and forgiveness. I origionally wanted an ultratec, but bought a supertec and so far have liked the bow.I was lucky enough to take an Elk with it this year,so I know it works. It's shorter than my past bows Martin Fury, Rage and being my first year with the hoyt I realize that I need to spend more time with it . Just curious to hear from those who have had a chance to try both

I have shot and owned both. The ultratec was more forgiving than the supertec, not as fast as the supertec and not as nice a bow, in my opinion.
I switched to the supertec and have never looked back. I love it and won't be getting rid of it anytime soon..
Thanks for the reply Warden hope it 's ok to branch off the origional topic . What is your preference on string /cable / serving materials on your bow, mine are still stock and will need changing soon, not sure what to go with . 8125 seems popular these days. Do you get the origional style yoke when you have a replacement made, have you found any lean caused by the yoke . Have you found any tuning tricks with the supertec , are you shooting even tiller. I'm shooting 2003 supertec 62# 29" draw 55/75 goldtips with 100gr muzzys =385gr. total @ 284fps. with a 3D rover rest any advise on improving and getting the most from it would be appreciated Thanks

No problem Tyee. I am shooting Rocky Mountain Bow Strings on my hoyt now and like them alot. They are made from 8125. Yes, it's the original style yoke and no, I don't get any cam lean out of it. Tuning tricks..hmm. Not really. My supertec has been reletively easy to tune and get set up. Only had one issue but fixed it quickly by backing one of the limb bolts out a 1/8 of a turn to bring it back into spec. The one limb was cranked in a little further than the other one and it was kickin' the arse end of my arrows out.
My hunting setup that I crono'd this year was easton epic 400's, 4" vanes (x3) and 100 grain Demon broadheads=385 grains. My bow is 27 1/2" draw x 70 ish lbs (said 75 on the scale but they are hardly ever accurate) and pushing 293 fps. I have a tko fallaway rest, cobra sight etc. I've been really happy with the tko. Works very well.
As far as tips to get your supertec into spec, it's not a forgiving bow at all. You have to make sure your form is damn near perfect everytime. Any deviation from close to perfect form will result in haywire shooting. Takes a bit of getting used to but it's not bad. I found that my groups tightened up after I had put about 100 arrows through the bow. Just had to get used to it.
Other than that tyee, I really don't have much info for ya on that tuning side. Mine has been pretty simple to work with.

thanks for all the input!i think i will likely go with the ultratec.i've done the speed thing and i'm leaning back to the forgiveness side now. my viper is a good bow but like the supertec you have got to be on your toes all the time.quality should not really very given the same limbs ,just looks like the geometry varies from bow to bow thanks

Alittle late on response, but I have the Xtec and won't be buying another bow for awhile,I really like it!The other hoyt I shot was the ultratec,I found it to be a little more kicky, but maybe it wasn't set right, either way I'm sure you'll like them both. Here's hoyt's stats for some of the hoyt line-up.All bows shot at70lb,30" draw.Xtec-310fps,limbs are forgiving from warm to cold weather, does not change velocity.vipertec is 300fps,short bow32"axle to axle.Raxortec 310fps.Supertec the fastest at 330fps. And the ultratec with XT2000 limb 317fps,XT3000 310fps. :-XX HAVE FUN SHOOTIN!
