Hi all.

I am looking to pick up a bow this fall. I have an older PSE Lightning Cam that is serviceable, but I'd like to upgrade - this one was a gift from a good friend, so I won't be parting with it, but it has its limitations for me. I'm 6'3, with an albatros wing-span - lol. My neighbor (competition archer) did my measurements, and it appears I need a 30.5" dl. I want this set up as a hunting bow - I'll practice quite a bit, so I do want quality and longevity, but I won't be putting the weight up to insane pulls, as I have some significant shoulder injury due to ball. I'm not above going second-hand - in fact, that is probably my plan, as I don't want to break the bank. I'd like to get a bare bow and set it up witht he accessories I want. Two that have caught my attention are the Drenalin LD and the Diamond Marquis.

Any insight and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if you have an APA dealer out in Quebec, but I love my APA Mamba XL36. I also have a 30 1/2" drawlength so I like a longer bow. I spent some time tuning before hunting season and had my 125 grain Montecs hitting the same spot as my field points and it grouped really well, plus it was flinging my 435 grain arrow at 305 fps which would be a little more forgiving on mis-judged distances.

It is definitely worth a look.

I'd stick to a longer axle to axle (35") bow with that kinda draw length. Should be a little easier to shoot. APA has a couple longer bows. Hoyt has a few. Bear just released the Anarchy.

Wookie is a 31" draw if I recall right ..... I am pretty sure he is hunting with a 50 pounder from APA (he recently had a shoulder injury as well) ....PM him ...

Take a look at the PSE Dream Season Evo. It will go to 31" DL. I am shooting it at 56 lbs with a 28.25 DL. 338 GT Velocity Pro at 303fps with 66 ft lbs of kenetic energy.

What is the draw of the PSE Lightning? My advice is that you round that number down to start with and go with a 30" draw. I shoot a Mathews Drenalin LD and it is a very nice bow. It was my hunting bow but I bought an Elite GT500 so my Drenalin has been relegated to being my target rig. With a long draw just make sure you do not get a bow that is too short in the ata range otherwise you will get some nock pinch and might have problems establishing some critical string contact points.

The Elite Pure has an advertised 31.5" draw.
