Hey guys. Since getting hooked on shooting I also got my brother hooked. He is now deciding between a pse bruin and a started martin bow (not sure of the model) Anyone have any thoughts on either bow. Were not into competitions of yet and are going hunting next year with them and he is looking for a good quality bow. I have the pse beast which i am told is the same as the bruin but I am unfamiliar with the martin line of bows. Any thoughts?

Both are top makers of bows, but that being said I think the entry level martins are probably the better bow. The Jaguars are nice as are the Phantoms. I personally would take these over a beast or a bruin from PSE. No knock on PSE they make good stuff.

Have to agree with redneck there.
I havn't had a whole lot of time with a PSE in my hand, and they do make a good bow. But I've shot a Martin for years and have never gone wrong.
Right from there entry level bows all the way to the Pro Series, they make a damn fine bow.
Also If your checking out entry level bow, look at the Hoyt Ultra Mag or the Ultra- Sport. Both fine bows as well.

If you are buying brand new, then I would say go with whichever feels best. However, if you are buying used from more than 2 years ago, I would stay away from the PSE's. Historically they have had a lot of problems with their limbs....... great shooters, just weak limbs. This problem has been corrected in the past couple years so as I said if it's new bows your looking at....either brand will shoot as well as you can!

I'm not familiar with the specific models, but I'd have to give the edge to Martin for overall quality.

I'm a little biased here but thought I'd throw out my two cents worth.
I think if you compare any of the larger name brand bow manufacturers products you will find they are all comparable in terms of performance and quality. If you compare bows of equal price you will find that they are very close in terms of quality. PSE makes very inexpensive entry level bows that many other manufacturers do not have in their line. Comparing a PSE NOVA with a Martin RazorX would be very unfair.
Both companies produce top quality products that archers can and do win Top level shoots with.
PSE had and extraordinary year last Year with Nathan Brooks shooting a Mach Pro. Nathan was in the shoot out in Vegas, won Lousiana (SP) and was in the shoot out for a Million Dollars in Atlantic city. As well, Nathan won this years IBO world championships. This year who knows a Wilde may win shooting a Mathews as they've all changed brands after many years winning with Martin!
Canadian records were set with PSE, Martin, Darton, Bowtech and Hoyt bows this year that I am aware of!
Try every brand that fits in your price range and choose the bow that feels best to you and have confidence that all the manufacturers are producing bow capable of winning that big shoot or downing that trophy of a lifetime.
