Make certain you know your yardage ...and pound the animal right in the Boiler room ...
a Well placed shoot makes for short track

One thing to remeber is to bend at the waist and not to drop your bow arm

Try to know your distances to various points from your stand. It takes some of the guess work out. Also don't eat chilli the night before your hunt :flame: :booty: :moon:

Practice shooting from that height.
Find funnels to set up near.
Don't neglect scent control just because you're off the ground.
No sudden movements.
Wear a 4 point safety harness, and be strapped to the tree whenever your feet are off the ground. Never violate this rule.

Good luck!

Attach a hook to the tree to hang your gear and another hook to hang your bow. I hang the second hook ( a piece of coathanger wire) from a branch at eye level on my left side if I can. My bow hangs with a nocked arrow and I can then tuck my hands in my coat to keep them warm. If I want to shoot I can reach my bow, which is already set to draw, with minimal movement. If you try to hold your bow the whole time, your hands will freeze! Also rig a pull up line to get your bow and gear up and down the tree. Just use a big hook on the end rather than a clip as it is easier and quieter to handle in the cold.

Yeah don't forget to get and extra hook or two to hang your bow and gear from while in the stand. I just started hunting from a stand this year and I bought one of those foldable anchors to hang my nocked bow from, it's an awesome accessory just as Borealboy said. Well worth the cash. Good luck. Later.
