Hi everyone,
My name is Noel and this is my first post.
Some quick background on my hunting experience...I have none. Whatsoever. :sos:
I went rifle hunting with some friends last year for the first time and fell in love with the challenge. I didn't get anything but my friend shot a nice deer.
Since then I have been wanting to get started in bow hunting. I picked up an old Proline bow a couple weeks ago and have been slowly trying to get it in firing shape.
Today was my first time ever on the range and after the nice guy at Silver Hights archery range taught me a few basics and gamely led me through the most basic processes of archery , including replacing the arrows that I got with the bow which were vaguely pretzle shaped, (all with a straight face I might add, and I assure you it was probably a huge struggle due to my comical lack of knowledge and ridiculous blunders! Good job Jason!), I was off to the races.
2 and a half hours on the range and countless shots later, my 20 yard pin is nicely sited in and I can more or less hit the side of a barn. Joking, I was actually quite pleased with my accuracy by the end of my day at the range. I realize that I have on obscene amount of work to do to even hope to hunt a deer this year, but I'm game and I'm definately in love with the bow.
My arms and shoulders are sore, and my forearm has a nice bruise on it after getting spanked by the string but I am super excited to go back.
I think that the research I did on here and youtube put me in better shape than I would have been otherwise, and I look forward to learning much more from you all.
Quick question, does anyone here use these old Proline compound bows anymore or am I gonna need to look for something a bit newer before going hunting?
Sorry about the long post but it was quite an exciting day and I am absolutely bursting with stupid questions although I promise to only ask one at a time!
Thanks for reading everyone.
