Moose season is over for me :lol: . My group took a very good bull, 60-3/4 inch rack and dressed out at 770 lbs of delicious meat . We hunt in Northern Ontario White Rivr area. We did not apply for a cow tag this year and this is what happened to me. :x
It was late in the day and I was sitting on my atv, at the end of a logging road, making a few calf calls. As I turned to look down the road a cow was standing in the middle of the road ,235 yards away as per my range finder. Every time she turned to leave the road I would continue to call and she come closer, she came within 20 to 25 feet as I sat on my atv and feed by the road side. What makes this a laugh is that we were gauranteed a cow tage if we had applied.
All this and no camera. :cry:
My son and I have also taken our deer. :cheers:

HURYBRO3;

Great bull! Congratulations. Are you hunting 21B? I used to hunt that area alot, up the Regan North road. We now hunt area 3. Got a bull (45.5") and a cow, and for whitetails, we got two does and a buck all during the rifle hunt. Unfortunately, our archery tags went unfilled although we did have our chances, just not close enough. I had a 50"+ bull in to 75 yards during the bow hunt, but he locked up on me and eventually went back to the cow he was with.

By the way, what part of the island do you hunt for deer? Right now I hunt a friend's property in off the 10th on the blind line.

Hey Lonewolf; Nice to see you back in here! How's your season going so far?

Later all,

Mike

Hi Mike
We hunt the same area ,north Regan Road. They are going to have to fix it up as it is in bad shape. We talked to a locale trapper and he stated that there is talk of taking out the bridges and closing the road or gateing it.
I hunt on a friends land on the base line. Where is the blind line off the 10 side road :?:

Is the hunting on the island still as good as used to be, I used to hunt there years ago!
I noticed that the archery season is much longer than it used to be.
I used to hunt inbetween gawas bay and hilton beach

Hi Robin
The hunting on the island is ok. The doe to buck ratio is a little out of wack , there are way to many does. :x

Well I made it back from my moose trip and would like to congratulate my best bud and hunting partner Dale on taking his first moose. I was a beauty and very tasy backstraps :smile: We saw one more the night before we left but he wasn't having any part of sticking around long enough to get a shot off. Dale walked about a mile thru some pretty thick stuuf to get there and made a 70 yard head shot on him. We were able to find an easier way out after a very difficult ride in on the quads. Here is a pic and there are a few more in my album. I will upload the rest later on in the week.
