OOh so close to arrowing a couple of nice Bulls. Two cows in the group as well. I spied them in a cutover, snuck up on them as they were bedding. Alas, they heard me CRUNCHING at about 40 m. We played staredown, the five of us, I drew but decided not to shoot as there were lots of little twigs in the way of the Bulls' vitals, probably could have shot a cow for sure. It was sure exciting. I couldn't get any closer so eventually they trailed off into the thick stuff without a trace, with me wondering how four moose can disappear that quick. Tried them again in the evening but couldn't find them, of course. Maybe next time.

thanks for the welcome, I just found you guys recently. Seems to be a good forum unlike a lot of others I've been in. I'm looking for a hunting partner if anyone's interested in doing some scouting this summer, let me know!! lol I'll cook the smokies.

My wife and I spend a lot of time in the central area of 316 - Fly Fishing, Snow Shoeing and Hiking.

This area is heavy on moose, especially if you are willing to get well off the roads and get back into the valleys.

Our best morning we spotted 19 moose in less then 3 hours of hiking.

Game in this area is spookier then most as it is a well travelled area by both industrial and recreational users.
