ive been shooting bare finger for a month now, i can only get an hour of practice in b4 my fingers are sore. I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on finger protection. or will my fingers eventually build up so i can shoot for an afternoon?

Unless you have calloused fingers from your occupation, I would go with a glove or tab...whichever suits you best...I think you would get a much cleaner release.

try using just a regular leather glove, or make yourself a tab out of leather. try both and see how they feel. I prefer a glove personally for the feel of the string but a tab does have a clean release and there are plenty of varieties out there.

i just dont want to go through a bunch of $ to figure out what i like better, there are not many other shooters here, and the ones i know use mechanical releases,,, i dont want to go that way

Alaskan Seal Skin finger tabs work great and are relatively cheap. I used one all last summer and fall shooting a average of 100 arrows a week and was still shooting very smooth.

so i got a finger tab, double layer - leather and then calf hair, it seems to work well, it does not get it the way "flapping around" like i thought it would.

I use the Neet Pinch Free Tab for shooting compound with fingers. It has the calf hair layer which gives clean release. I usually wear out one or two per year at about 10 bucks a pop so cost is negligible. It is the best one I've found for me.
