Hey all
I am looking to get my first compound bow for both rec and hunting. I am looking a couple different bows at the moment. I am leaning to a Diamond Iceman or Ice storm but I was also looking at the Bear Mauler. I can get all three in a package that has everything that I need all for good rates I am just not sure about them from a review stand point.
I am going to be using it in Northern Ontario and hunting Deer and Moose.
Can anyone give me some advice.
Thanks
Mikey

I would lean towards one of the Diamonds .... Bears in my opinion are great starter bows ... and great bows for the persona that wants to bowhunt to extend his season .... But if you get addicted to archery and wanna shoot the bow more than a week or two before the season starts ... you will find that you want to upgrade within a year.
I can think of at least 4 people off the top of my head that bought bear bows within the last 2 years that are presently looking to upgrade (most of the purchases were made due to budgetary constaints)
Diamonds are last years Bowtechs with single cams ... they are top shelf bows at discounted prices

i personally have had no complaints with my bear truth bow i find it to be comfortable to shoot very quiet and customer service from bear was very good.when i first got the bow i had some issues with cam lean we tried to fix problem where i bought the bow but ended up sending it out to bear where they basically replaced the whole bow except the riser no questions asked since then i have been very happy with it

I'm loving my bear" lights out", i got it second hand. It seems well built to me. Bear's been at this bow building thing for a long time... I wouldn't be fooled by the lower price, they strive for a quality hunting tool at reasonable price. Its a personal thing...
Its like the guy that told me his CZ in .22mag was better than my Marlin 22mag cause it was prettier and cost him twice what my Marlin did. I laughed and said really? He struggled to hit the resetting target at one hundred yards.. It took him about 8 shots to reset the target. With smile on his face he said "see pretty good eh?" I agreed with him and took to the bench...5 shots, 5 hits, reset the target. I got up with an even bigger smile and said "imagine if I had a good gun."
If you can hit your target and don't care what other people say about your equipment who cares? Dead is dead.

Diamond makes a good product. There part of the Bowtech family, but are single cams. Diamond has a few new bows this year Fugitive, Outlaw, Dead Eye. Outlaw would be your best bet as it comes with 7" brace height. Another bow in that price range worth looking at is the Bowtech Assassin. Comes in a package. I shot the bow a couple weeks ago and its feels pretty good. Big thing is find a shop that will help you out and let you shoot before you buy.

I shot a Diamond Edge for almost four years before I switch to trad bow. Diamond made great bow for the money, Every Diamond that I've seen or own by the other members are outstanding shooting machine, quiet and fast. Diamond, bear and PSE are bow of choice plus you don't have to pay big money for the same performance.
