Hello, ladies and gentlemen,
I am considering getting into archery target shooting. However the only place I can shoot (free) is inside my condo - in a 25 foot hallway. My guess is that it is far too short a distance
for this sport. If the majority of replies suggest that I would do ok- could I ask for recommendations on what specific equipment I need and what budget is required.
If the consensus is that I cannot expect accuracy or satisfacion at that distance, then I will abandon my idea and wish you all Happy Holidays and Thanks!

Novice, where are you located? In most urban centres, you may get yourself into a little trouble if anyone found out or something were to go sideways.....
If you're here in Calgary, there are options for you that are low-cost, safe and most importantly will maximize your practice time.

Hi J.
Actually, never considered it unlawful to shoot in a residence ( such as firearm). Is this generally so or is it because my shot may miss the backstop which would be a sheet of
ten-test board. Certainly no neighbours would hear noise.
I have been shooting a target air pistol (.177 calibre pellets) for a few years inside with no
interference from anyone. So is archery considered illegal in urban dwellings everywhere?

I've heard through various sources that within the City of Calgary limits, it's OK to fire a bow towards / within your own place of residence; but I'm not a lawyer or police, so please don't take my word on it - check with your own police force to determine the exact extent of the law....
I would be concerned about missing the target and backstop and putting the arrown through a wall and into common space, where someone may get hurt. If that happens, you may have a battle on your hands, even if it's within the law to discharge a bow.... Lawsuits are never a fun thing....
The thought of a single piece of ten-test being strong enough to stop an arrow? I don't think I'd trust my walls to it....
The Calgary Archers outdoor club pays for itself the first time you use it... Just as any other archery club anywhere else. Usually with membership, you are covered with insurance through the club and FCA? (someone please correct me if I'm wrong....)
