I've wanted to buy a trail camera for a really long time but didn't want to fork out alot of $$$. On another forum someone posted a site that people can build their own home brew trail camera. I bought all of the part and after a little bit of time I got it working. I didn't no how to solder so thats what was so time consuming. All I have to do is build a housing for it and its ready to go. Its a cool project that I recommend. Well maybe I'll recommend it after I set it up and if it works. To build the first one it was around $200 dollars. I payed $100 for the camera though. I think you can get them on ebay for $50. Oh well if I want to build another I can probably do it for under $100.

sniper this is the site that I got the information from. It has quite a few do it yourself projects for the hunter that wants to save a couple bucks.

For the home brew trail camera. You can go to the forum on Jesse's hunting page to find updates. There are alot of camera you can rig this up with. I'm using the Canon Owl Sure Shot and a motion sensor from radio shack.

I have been toying with this idea for a few years... I am an electrician and took electronics as part of my training and as I will never use it in my day to day job I thought of playing with one of these.... My question is how do they hold up in cold weather the camera is what concerns me wouldn't it freeze up or does a guy have too remove them later n the season??????

I haven't posted in awhile. I was surprised to see how little I was involved in the posting. :(
Well here is an update on the trail camera that I built. Just click on the link and it will take you to pics of the homebrew trail camera and also a few pictures from the camera.
