I'm really new to archery (sort of) and the local shop is trying to sell me a 'Martin archery Bamboo Viper'

I'm looking for a highend Traditional bow. I dont care about the cost so much as the quality. I like this bow although it seems like... its soooooo small.... I mean im used to the big bulky bows from like 20-30 years ago. This thing feels like a toothpick lol.

Anyway is the quality of this bow as good as it seems ?? im told its around 600-800 bucks.
What are some of the other popular highend models these days ??

I want to get into competitive target shooting in time... as well as hunting.
I'm looking for a bow that is good in both areas.

Thanks !

from all reports the bamboo Viper is a good bow. That said fro the same money you can purchase a custom built bow.
There are reviews on my site that will show you some options to look at.
www.peteward.com look in the trad review section.
