No, it's not mandatory to wear blaze orange when bow hunting. However it's a good idea to wear blaze orange during gun season when bow hunting. You don't want to be a target.

As I understand it now each province has their own rules about bowhunters wearing orange. When I was in Manitoba a bowhunter was not required to wear hunter orange at any time, most did if they were hunting in a rifle zone during rifle season.
Here in NS I understand that hunters are required to wear orange to and from your stand, but not while on stand.....
Different strokes for different folks.

I have the Ontario regs here from last year. they say and I crudely quote "all hunters including archery hunters" must wear hunter orange during the gun season.

bear season, "all hunters must wear orange unless in a tree stand"

waterfowlers, wild turkey hunters and archery in arhcery only seasons are exempt"

I tore these loosely quoted lines from the 2003 regs on page 14. I interpreted the regs as I saw them so don't turn the CO on to me if ya git yerself into trouble.

heheh, good luck !

My understanding is that while bow hunting you only have to wear blaze orange to and from your stand (i.e when you're moving) if there is a firearms season also open for that same animal (deer, moose, etc...). Some WMU's don't allow bow hunting during firearm season so this is a non-issue.

Surprisingly, I've had deer as close to me during rifle season when I looked like the Great Pumpkin as I have when completely camo'd up. Movement and scent are how deer will bust you 99% of the time.
