Has anyone used these, and can comment on thier effectiveness?
I am trying to decide on a brand of broadhead for this season, and these looked pretty good, but theyre pricey.
I noticed thier cutting diameter is a bit smalled than other fixed blades, and I'll be hunting elk this year...

I switched to G5's Montec last year after using a rage 2 blade system. I think now a days its a presonal opinion as there all pretty good. Shooting expandables do ,sometimes reduce the chances of a pass thruogh on the larger animals ,(also my opinion) so early season tracking with out snow makes things a little tricker. Shoot what works for you ,but I'm gonna give'em another go this year.:)

I have used them and like them... But they are just to much money ! slick tricks or magnus stingers are just as good or better at half the price .

BARRUS I have bow hunted for over 30 years and have tried all types of broad heads on everything from deer, antelope, to moose ,elk ,bear and hogs and bar none these broad heads are the best I have ever used. if you go to page 5 on the thread What weight do you shoot for hunting I have given a few examples of what a G5 MONTEC can do. HOPE I COULD HELP GOOD HUNTING :beer:

Have friends who shoot them, although not my preference, they are very good.
I did not like them because I had to sharpen them so I went with a replaceable blade, nothing against them just to lazy to sharpen

In the last two years I have harvested over 20 big game animals with my bow in Two provinces, All have been with the 85gr montec. they are one of the best heads out there for hunting I think.

I bought a set last year and they are great. Very easy to tune as well. Although, they do have practice heads that come in packs of 3 but they are more expensive than the hunting ones. I ended up buying 2 packs of 3 hunting heads and use one of them for tuning. Seems silly to pay more for 3 practice heads. Just take one of the hunting BH and paint it with marker or something.
As far as sharpening, it's very easy as they have been designed to sharpen 2 blade sides at a time by holding one blade straight up. I usually put some marker on the sharp edge and make a few passes until the marker is off. Works for me.

timba! don't do it, at least not the 3 blade. tried them for 2 years and lost animals, you don't get the penetration, unless its a super close shot or it doesn't hit any bone. my opinion

There are only 3 blade Montecs. Not sure what kind of head you are confused with, Rage maybe, or the G5 Tekan?

There is a good alternative to the Montec that is cheaper, the VPA terminator. It is a 1 pc solid 3 blade CNC cut from a single piece of steel,Teflon coated.They are available in 85 gr to 300 grains in screw in or glue on.

{The 85 is not shown.}
Dennis in Calgary has them in stock.

I have used these for the past two seasons. What I like...one piece design, great as no blades can get lost in the meat. The angle of the blades is designed to allow you to sharpen them as they lay flat on your stone, this is brilliant! What I don't like...the arrow flight of any fixed blade broadhead. Do I use them - yes. They are the best fixed blade head on the market, without doubt.

These are the broadheads I used to take my black bear this spring.
Passed right through. Clean kill.
