Has anyone hunted this area and if so is there lots of game there and is the area similar to the country west of Sundre. I am looking for someplace closer to home this fall as we are about to have our second Little one and all will be please to know that I convinced my wife to name him Hunter.

Thanks for your help.

And just, pray tell, what will the name be if it happens to be a little girl. One would have to think that a girl named Hunter just might have a few problems at school. Congrats on the pending new arrival. There is nothing more special than another branch on the family tree.

Easy Guys , I already know it is a boy ( number 2) and secondly if I had a daughter that looked like that I would definetly have to trade the bow in for a shotgun.

Enough distractions what about the porcupine hills ? Good game area? lots of hunters?

I hunt down there up until the opening of rifle season, too many hunters after that. Make sure your cardio is up, lots of hills to climb chasing deer and elk.

Thanks for all your information . We are looking at hunting at the north end of WMU 305 or the south end of 304 . We took a drive out there last night and the country is beautiful. We saw lots of mule deer but no elk or whitetail. What is the best way to hunt this country from a tree stand or walk and call ( for elk that is)

You pretty much have to walk if your hunting the private lands but if you want elk I would try quads in the forestry and you have the spot the north end of the forestry is where all the elk are most of the time .Just dont bugle at them only cow call or you hunting might not go so well there pretty shy of the bugle.

You'll find white tails in numbers just to the east of the Skyline ridge. It's all private property but some of those guys allow hunters.

I know the south end of 304 quite well and there are some really good mule deer bucks in the valleys. They're huntable but a bitch to get out of there if you're on foot. The elk can be hit or miss, depending on how much they get pushed around.

Like a few have already said, there's lots of guys ,even bow hunters in them hills, that's why I don't hunt there any more.
