after a good hour of target shooting with my recurve last week I developed a nasty case of thumb bursitis or tendinitis.....I was shooting with leather gloves....
does anyone else get this?
I got a thumb brace but it still is a pain!!! perhaps I am doing it wrong?
oh this is my shooting hand!

Hmmmm. When you say shooting hand, do you mean bow hand or release hand?
I cannot think of any part of a shooting routine with a recurve that would lead to brusitis. Is it maybe inflamation of a previous injury?

If it was your bow hand, it could've been that the seam of your leather glove stradled the crutch of your thumb (the "V" between your thumb and index finger) and the seam was just thick enough to irritate the tissues in that area.... I've had it happen when riding bikes for the first time with new gloves...

A good form and useage of back muzzle will take away a lot of stress of your release hand. A solid form has to be well developed before you practice a longer period of time. Sometime even a low poundage bow still get you hurt badly.
