Well, my fave bow will be back from Warrenty work today, so I can broadhead tune. Everything else is ready to go. I can't wait. This will be my year!

Well I got my season of to a late start because of an unexpected overseas work trip. My first night out was with Warden on Sept 16. We saw half a dozen muleys and a couple cow elk, but no shot oppertunities. On the 17th, I hunted Wt a couple of hours in the evening, but only say 1 doe at 100 yards. On the 18th, I stalked at 125-130 class WT buck, but that came to an end when I found myself underneath a inhabited treestand. Last night, I stalked to 33 yards of a group of 10 mulies including a decent 3X3 buck, but could not shoot as they were on the wrong side of the fence line. Tommorrow is another day.

Well, last evening, the same 3X3 muley was already out feeding when I got to my spot, so I got ready, played the wind and put a beautiful stalk on him. When I looked over the knoll he was feeding over he was gone. He plain ol vanished. I then decided to still hunt the creek bottem. I never did see anymore deer, but I did get to 20 yards of a bull and cow moose. My estimation would have been 40 inches. 314 is moose draw only, so I had to let him walk. I also heard the moose calling and again heard some distant elk bugles. One of these times, that muley is going to end up in my freezer.

So I decided to hunt this new piece of land that Warden and I got permission on last night. I have never been on the land before, so I thought I would just take a walk around and get the lay of the land and then find somewhere to sit for the evening rush. I was heading down a cutline about 400 yards from the yard, with the wind in my face when I topped a rise to see 2 muley bucks feeding 60 yards ahead of me. I got down into the trees and waited for them to move a little closer as it was extremely windy. Finally, I had the larger 4X4 at 35 yards, so I started to draw and had to promptly stop as his head came up. This went on for several tries. I finally got to full draw and was just turning a little to hammer him when a previously unseen doe winded me. At that point it was all over as he covered alot of ground really fast. I saw several more mulies through the evening, but no shots. When I sat down for the evening I did have two bull moose walk past me, but 214 is draw only.

Well, this weekend was the first time since the end of Sept. that I was able to get out hunting. I got 3 1/2 solids days in. On Friday morning I missed a nice WT buck, but redeemed myself in the early afternoon and took a WT doe. I saw lots of animals the rest of the weekend, but no shooters.

I got out this AM for the last day of deer season 2004 and managed to harvest a Whitetail Buck. Sorry about the shitty photos, but I left my camera at home so I ended up grabbing a few pics when I got home. I still have a late season cow elk draw, so hopefully I can fill that tag too.

Nice deer! Any whitetail buck with a bow is a trophy in my book.
