hey all hope you can help me! I have an issue with my arrows, they are 24/1/2 inch long aluminum with 75" grain tips when i shoot them now with all my gear on my badge they fly so well now that they stick into the wood at about 6-8 inches deep into the wood....should i go to a heavier arrow??? I should add i'm pulliing at a draw weight of 37" and a draw length of 23"..

What kind of arrows are you shooting?

The 1816's should be the right spine. Your FOC is a little low at 6%, depending on what size of vanes you are using. Are you going to be hunting with this setup, or just stump shooting?

Arrows are made to fly and penetrate. That is what they do. Remember, just shoot at the soft stumps!

You can also use judo points instead of field points. They won't stick into the stump and makes it easier to find them when you miss.

If your getting that kind of penetration , I wouldn't change a thing.
Just remember that if you want to hunt you'll have to pull 40 #,
And then those arrows will hit even harder.
Sounds like you got a pretty good little set up there tigerlilly.
Good luck with it.

I will echo my comments from your other post here. You will be way better off buying a bag target ( which can be had cheap), or making one on your own. You will save a lot of time and money with a target rather than shooting stumps. The light easton jazz arrows you are shooting are not going to stand up to much stump shooting before getting bent or wrecked. If your B/F doesn't mind straightening arrows all the time then go ahead, but a cheap bag target will save this hassle and expense!
Let us know how your shooting progresses, and welcome to the site!!

Hey all thanks for the info... I often go to the archery center in the south of calgary... if you see someone either wacking the arrows in the backboard or on the top of the targets or hitting the 3d's in the butts that would be me.... lolol my aim is terriable.. hopefully with the new site and peeper on it it'll get better.....
