Hey everone, at the end of the year, I wish to purchase a new bow. (During the end of the year sales ) Anyhow what bows should I be looking at? I would like a short bow about 30-33 inches axle to axle with a draw weight of up to 80 pounds. The Hoyt ViperTec fits the description very well and from what I hear it is very forgiving for a short bow. Some other ones I am considering are the PSE Firestorm Lite, the Bowtech Liberty, and Matthews Outback. Anyhow you're feelings towards this subject would be greatly appreciated. I am going to try all of your suggestions before I settle on a bow. Thanks, Peter.

Buying a new toy is always fun!!

Personally I have a Bowtech TomKat and I love it as it is short and forgiving. The forgiving I need.

Good luck with your shopping.

You may want to have a look at the bowtech Extreme VFT which only goes to 70 pounds or its big brother the Samson which cam be had in 80#'s and up. Both are have decent brace height and are WICKED fast! My hunting rig is a VFT at 72#'s, and I can pump out a 415grn arrow at 301 ft/sec. I love mine and they are definately worth a look.

Well you are looking at the 2 best bows on the market right now. Hoyt and Bowtech........shoot them both........they are both hummers. I think the Hoyt is a little more forgiving.........but Bowtech is no slouch.

I was doing some research on the internet and was looking at the Hoyt ViperTec and seeing some of its reviews, from what I hear it is one on the BEST short bows ever made!

I have never been a fan of super short bows, prefering bows between 35 and 40" axle to axle. Although I have set up a couple of ViperTecs for guys and am very impressed with this bow. It is a great shooter. You can't go wrong with it. Something else to consider is this will probably be the last year for the RazorTec, another great Hoyt bow and there may be some great deals available for this model come late fall.

I am shooting the Hoyt Supertec now and I love it. It's a fast bow...but not really forgiving.

There should be some pretty good deals out there on Champion bows I'd think. Of course parts may be hard to find in a couple years but right now they should be no problem.

if the vipertec goes out of production this year look for it to possibly be much less expensive as a reflex next year. why do you want a short bow anyway? my buddy bought a vipertec thinking it`d be faster and lighter then my excursion and its only 6 ounces lighter, I also fling my heavier arrows a little faster then his lighter ones . my reflex also had less vibration out of the box then his vipertec.

the mathews outback is super short and fairly forgiving as is the ar-31 for archery research. their ibo speeds are 310 and 309fps respectively.

I bought an xtec for a little more speed with my longer/ heavier arrows and the draw weight increase over my reflex. i was gonna keep the excursion as a backup because I really love shooting it (after I found out what 75 cent part was screwing me up  ) but i`m wanting to sell it now so my backup can be setup as heavy as my hoyt, that and I like getting new toys
