Just bought a Copper John Eagle Fourfinger release and having trouble setting it up.I keep flinching or holding it to long on the target trying to fire it than missing the traget altogether.I know it's a backtension release but it's my first.Whats the best way to grip my fingers around it. :(

Havoc;

I wish I could help you out, I have ZERO experience when it comes to back tension releases. To be honest, they kinda scare me :shock: . Hope someone's able to give you an answer you can work with. Check out ArcheryTalk.com. I'm sure you'll get lots of info there.

I have the four finger and love it. I use the wrist strap it came with and let it do the work. I only use my fingers on the release to steady it and set my anchor. I find this gives me the best results, but I guess everyone has to find what works for them.

I have mine set so that the top joint on my middle finger is just ahead of the trigger at full tension. I find that this gives me the least interference (i am not clenching the release) and the most consistent results.
