Tell me folks, are ya ready for hunting season? I am pumped! 1 month away, a few things to get ready and I can't wait. I had a housefull of company all weekend and yesterday morning I found myself out in the yard setting up my pop up blind just to sit in it! Anyways, I have the itch. I cannot wait! Who is in the same boat as me?

I've definitely got the itch. Bow opener for deer in my part of Ontario isn't until October 1 but I'm starting to get ready now.

I built 3 more strap-on tree stands on the weekend and I'm planning where I'm going to put them, what wind directions they'll be good for and how to get in/out without being detected.

The hunting dreams have started too... unlike the flu a hunting fever never goes down - it gets more intense every year!

It's all I can think about. Booked my holidays for the middle of Sept so I can head out for Elk. Going to be heading out that way soon just to have a look around, although it will just make the itch worse. I'm already having trouble sleeping.

I'm sure getting the itch. The deer sighting have really picked up in the last little while which has really gotten me excited for the upcoming season. Last night I went scouting and saw a very mature 10 point feeding in the soy beans. I couldn't get close enough for a picture but through the binocs he had really long G2's and G3's. With really good brow tines and good mass. A definate shooter this season.
I then cut across a gully into another soybean field where a doe was feeding with her triplets. I got a picture of the one fawn as it came to get a closer look at what I was. The picture is a little blurry but the fawn was only 20 yrds.

The fawn then joined its family and the doe lead her babies to the other side of the field. I also took a quick picture of their departure.

Tonight I was helping my dad move some bales of hay. Just before I turned off the road another big buck crossed the road infront of me. It could have been the same buck. It was still great to see.
Will October 2nd hurry up. My season starts on the 2nd my brother is getting married on the opener.
